It's a 4chan thing that started long before it garnered any association with gorillas. It kinda broke out of 4chan when Redditors, 9GagMes, and KYMers really thought the gorilla part of it was funny. Now on PB it's associated with Doughnut Joe, apparently. |

If KnowYourMeme is correct, it came from a 4chan greentext stories thread. The OP made a parody story using outdated slang from the 1950s(girls in poodle skirts, malt shops, greasers, etc.). In the story a greaser puts the moves on OPs girl, OP explains that the greaser is rustling his jimmies, basically meaning that he's getting pissed off. It just caught on because "rustle my jimmies" is both absurd and hilarious. |
