Twilight explains that spells are not something that you have no control over, you're either casting a spell or you're not. Ergo, Colgate is either a master of that spell and can keep concentrated enough for it to stay cast over a long distance, or KT is stupid. |

You don't have to concentrate on spells, though. Just off the top of my head, Twilight never had to keep her concentration on either the wings she gave Rarity or the cloudwalking spell for the others.
So this still works fine. |

Those were just the properties of the spell that was cast. If Colgate had stopped using the X-Ray spell, then it should just stop showing the bones by this point; there is no way to uncast a spell, only a spell duration. |

Since when was Twilight such an expert on magic anyway? True, she's good at it (sometimes!) but there's still stuff she doesn't know!
So what if we listened to her ramble about magic in that one episode where she has no idea what's going on in the first place? That hardly makes anyone here an authority on how magic works! Besides, "rule of funny" overrides everything else anyway, especially where Pinkie Pie is concerned. (We all know what "rule of funny" is, right?) |

So the argument appears to be that as soon as you stop casting a spell, it should stop, except for the ones that don't (Cloudwalking, bring to life, Want it, Need it, etc) because PROPERTY OF A SPELL. However, Colgate isn't allowed to have that PROPERTY because all spells should stop as soon as stop casting, except for the ones that don't.
This argument appears to stuck in a loop. Why not say that the duration of the X-Ray spell simply hasn't worn off yet? |
