There was something disturbingly familiar about the tickertape before me. The reports were all pretty curves.
"You're in an economy, Max." The truth struck as hard and fast as a bank run, leaving me totally hollow of my previous notions. All around me, there were men in suits speaking a Babel of languages, all of them buying and selling objects and properties that they would never see in their life. I was in an economy. Funny as hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of. |
