You have to put up with more on Ponibooru than on EQD. So people on PB are likely more used to weird and bad stuff, where on EQD even tiny things can cause problems.
So I guess, we are more mature than EQD because we scare all less mature people away. :P The immature people that stay here are far worse than the immature ones on EQD though. |

You may not oppose morals for being morals, but people like the OP do. Similarly to people who complain about "preaching", or "forcing your principles on me", or "soapboxing", or any other things of the sort. It's possible to claim that specific ethics are incoherent, ill-defined, self-contradictory, impractical, or otherwise illogical, but insulting them for being ethics is inherently hypocritical, since you can't call something bad without some sort of principle to judge it with. |

Forgot to mention, the concept of "butthurt" is a victim of the same paradox. It's a pejorative term meant to belittle negative emotion, with the implication that it's inherently wrong and childish and should not be felt, because it bothers others. Anyone who uses it is, by their own standards, including themselves same category they degrade. And in doing so they admit that sometimes it's justified or warranted, which begs the question of what the problem is with the things they're aiming their mockery at. Usually, the answer is "nothing, they're just being bratty and selfish". |

Easy as that. And for all the Derpy stuff etc. I think it would suffice if everyone who liked Derpy would've sent the creators an email and told them so. But it's just human nature to take everything good as given and complain if you don't like something. So, for the next season, whenever you liked an episode just write everyone on the staff an email/PM whatever. This would make it impossible for a vocal minority to change things. And if the majority of people wants something changed (for whatever stupid reasons) then maybe a majority actually finds something offensive. (No, I actually do not expect this to actually happen, but yeah...) |

I don't think that is what makes people here angry. And I actually agree with you in a way that if the EQD staff doesn't want that kind of stuff they should not post it, since it's their site. What people are upset about, as far as I can see it, is that if they post an image that is "sauce" to use the EQD terms, but in no way pornographic and someone will say that he likes it in the comments he will get downvoted. Not that this has any effect but it will. Why people care about that in the first place eludes me. |

EQD, like it or not, is the premier site for the fandoms and is obligated by design and by their position to keep things cleaner than places like Poonibooru. They are, effectively, the face for our fandom, and they want to present us in the best light. If it weren't for EqD, we wouldn't have a lot of the things we do now. I seriously doubt that people who work on the show visit Poonibooru, but we know for a fact they visit EqD.
EqD is the happy smiling face we present to the world. If you wanted to show off fan works to a non fan, wouldn't you take them there first? You've got a tons of SFW content, and it's all of the best quality. It's far easy to explain a picture of Twilight wearing a sweater to a new fan than it is to try to rationalize Miss Rarity or Sweetie-Poo. |

I guess they're overtly paranoid about housing potentially creepy individuals among themselves. Just look at deviantart/FA comments under let's say WG or inflation pics. There will always be at least one individual chanting things like: Maek her fatter durr. *hands a bar of butter* ETC. At least that's my guess on the matter. Well, yeah. I don't think it's a problem at all, because I agree with you that you can look at whatever you want here or at DA. There are a bunch of fetishes I personally find rather weird but I don't click on them and tell people they are sick or something.
I still think it's a little strange that a community which apparently wants love and tolerance is giving so little of either but very few people can actually practive what they preach. It actually becomes a problem when they threaten/harrass people because of posting such things which has happened before. And with Studio 2 staff non the less. |

Okay. good job everyone, you've all managed to address the issue that a troll is using horribly flawed logic (ponibooru being a bastion of maturity, EL OH EL indeed) and also being a bit of a hypocrite when you recognize that the main reason to be annoyed by "moralfags" is their judgmentalism, but by calling them that, he is in turn being judgmental.
Now lets actually address the troll in a manner that doesn't actually give him what he wants; that of a huge pile of crap in response. This can easily be done by taking what he is saying at face value and actually answering the question in a rational manner rather than pointing out everything but the question. Essentially, what the question here amounts to is "why are people more uptight on ED than on Ponibooru?" and it's pretty damn obvious: Equestria Daily is a "child friendly" website. Scoff all you like about the horrible adult content writing, but that isn't restricted the same way that pictures and videos are. Text requires the reader to already have a concept that they can use to tie to whatever words they are reading, so unless an individual already has a concept, they are not going to get the full impact of whatever they read. With that established, the reason behind the "child friendly" site is also important. Equestria Daily exists first and foremost as hub for information and content for MLP, but it's secondary function has ALWAYS been to act as an opposition to the stigma that has been tied to bronies being weird or creepy. It has been pretty obvious from past experience, even just with this site, that if you give ground a little on what is appropriate, it creates a slippery slope to having to accept everything. (anyone still remember the foalcon controversy?) But this is a good thing. Ponibooru fills my "unfiltered access to high quality art and creative expression" and Equestria Daily can be the public face that Hasbro can show to the news media so that I don't have to hear over 9000 news stories about how watching the show makes me a child molester. So leave the "moralfags" alone. That's who that site is there for. It's like going out in public and needing to wear pants. Yes, I'm sure it chafes compared to those grungy boxers you haven't changed since last Tuesday, but it's what is expected and so you do it, and the only reason the idea even occurred to you that it might be something to complain about is because you have been holing up on sites that don't worry about public for so long that you've forgotten that conformation to public expectations actually has purpose that is worth following. |
