Think "The Thing" with a bit of "The Shining". It's pretty flipped out, and the fridge horror hits you like a train once you figure out what's actually going on. It's easily one of the best works of "Grimdark" this fandom has to offer, and doesn't get nearly enough recognition. I'd rather there be Windigo knockoffs than all of this cupcakes faggotry. |

Agree with @828. Say what you want about Cupcakes, but it at least had somewhat convincing characterization. Back when it was written (before Party of One and A Friend in Deed) Pinkie's mind was a much bigger mystery than it is now, so it didn't seem THAT inconceivable and her lines actually sounded like something she would say in such a situation. OTOH, Sweet Apple Massacre is pure trolling with next to no characterization and hilarious attempts to be as edgy as possible. I was mildly disturbed by Cupcakes (and genuinely disgusted a couple of times), while Sweet Apple Massacre was impossible to take even remotely seriously. |
