Nope. Many ponies have the same talent unless there is only 1 fashion designer and only one donut maker and only 1 apple farmer etc.

Even if this is true, wouldn't their be an infinite number of variations on any given tallent? For example,2 ponies could be specialized in growing flowers, but one more in tulips or one in roses. As we see with rarity, somepony's special talent can be highly specific within a certain area |

That is the stupidest theory I've ever heard.
By that logic NONE of the Wonderbolts would have theirs because they all love trick flying. BTW. This is what I'll stand by for how the CMC get theirs -Apple Bloom: Completes massive emergency construction project in Ponyville. -Sweetie Belle: Overcomes her stage fright and sings in front of a large crowd. -Scootaloo: Masters a complicated scooter trick, or dance routine. |

First of all, this is canologically incorrect, as we've seen numerous ponies with the same cutiemark, and some for whom it's part of their character (like the Spa Twins).
Secondly, it was implied that they could have gotten a cutiemark in gossip / tabloid journalism if they'd continued with the Gabby Gums column, but when they realized how many ponies they were hurting, they decided to quit and try look elsewhere. |

What I always find weird is how ponies seem to get their talents and it is more or less ALWAYS related to their name. Why haven't the CMC figured this out? Scootaloo is good at scootin, Applebloom's entire family has something related to apples, and Sweetie Belle has "bell" in her name so I'm guessing that's related to her singing or maybe she's gonna be a fashionista like her sister but still that's gotta be a clue.
I also wonder how two ponies can have the same talent and have different names, or why a pony's name has to do with being rich before they become rich. Not to mention is there ever a battle over whose talent is somehow more refined than another's? |
