Depends on how you take the events. There's always more than one view point. My view is Celestia wasn't making any effort, while the Queen was putting out everything she had. Could have been Celestia worrying about collateral damage, injuring wedding guests, or over confidence. Either way, she miscalculated, and had her own spell pushed back into her before she could react. This is supported by their faces during the battle. The Queen was straining and worried. Celestia didn't even break her scowl, looking like she was swatting an annoying insect. And who's to say that Discord IS divine, hmm? Or even more powerful than Celestia? Did she not attack him directly because he's just too difficult to hit and would have hit others? That two divine beings duking it out in the middle of the capitol would have leveled Canterlot? My point is, there are always different views. Mine is just as valid as yours, which is just as valid as anyone else. It's getting silly how many people take their INTERPRETATION of things, and everyone else is wrong. /rant |

Yep. Heck, the changling Queen could be a Goddess. Of Death, of Greed or something else. Discord could be a God of Chaos. Goddess of Sun, Goddess of Moon, God of Earth, Goddess of Love ect ect. Is why the setting is so fun. With no real backstory, there's so many possibilities. I just don't like people telling others that their interpretation is WRONG. |

Shader, I always got the feel that the weaker Alicorns, the females of the old royal line, were mortal demi-gods which is why she was able to banish, with Shining Armor, a goddess level being like the changling queen. Kind of like Aphrodite concerning Cadence, especially since she was allowed to use her 'love' power with impunity.
That's not to say she is stronger then Twilight. In overall power, Twilight and Rainbow Dash are both capable of A-Rank level destruction in terms of Equestrian abilities. |

Putting aside the whole debate over deity status, it seems that according to JJ, Cadence swings a little closer to Molestia's side of the family than Luna's.
