But... Maybe because Luna is still regaining her strength after being purified (my headcanon is that the EoH basically hit the 'reset button' making her not much more powerful than a mortal unicorn) she couldn't actually do anything during the day, so she hung back rather than have both of Equestria's rulers beaten back. She wanted to help her sister, but it would have been a waste of effort. She's still only strong at night, unlike Celestia who is powerful at all times, maybe. Not really.

We seen that Luna can shapeshift too. Even after being purified.
It would have been funny if she disguised herself as Crysalis and confused the hell out of the changelings. "I am your real Queen!" "No, I am! Get that imposter!" And while the Queen is distracted cadence and shining cast their spell. Would have been a nice way to write her into the plot. |

I prefer to think Luna has a Sensory Deprivation Chamber where she sleeps during the day which is why she was completely absent. |

Luna knows anger. Very well. If love feeds Chrissy, hate will probably kill her. Luna will administer a beatdown with laser-focused anger. She won't be nice like Celly is (especially after finding out she was beaten down.) Chrissy has chosen the path of pain. |

its the fact that the writers are trying to hold on to the notion that this is somehow a show for lil girls.
if not for that, Luna woulda shown up all Piccolo/Vegeta like and commenced a beatdown worthy of the best animes out there. |

I am still hanging on to the idea Luna doesn't live in Canterlot (like maybe is sprucing up that castle in the Everfree forest). After all she did fly in through a hole in the barrier when she took her watch over Canterlot. |
