I don't know how to feel about this but I would probably chalk it up to corporate intervention. I have a feeling things like Cadence fall into this category. Now, I didn't hate Cadence but I feel she sets a dangerous precedent.

I have a feeling that people are gonna pester her about this, and that is not gonna be a good thing.

I thought I specifically remembered her saying that she didn't leave FiM because she was unhappy and instead because she did have other projects. I'm so confused.

Dat feel, I have it too.
Hopefully people will know to keep their noses out of other people's private business..... *Sigh* Who am I kidding?

I wouldn't surprised if had something to do with the corporation and/or perhaps things in the show that didn't go exactly how she envisioned it.

lets misinterpret the hell out of this...but okay
@ProfessorOfHoers
Lauren wasn't even aware that Cadence was an alicorn until after she left

I suppose that's just natural. As much as I agree people shouldn't bother Faust about it, I must admit I'm a bit curious myself of the reason. Hopefully she'll reveal that when's willing to, and not because hundreds of people bugged her about it.

Nope, she was cool about Bronies. In fact, she liked us. ;)

Maybe she had quarrels with Hasbro or some animators, I dunno.

Well, I have known that Cotton but I met things "like" Cadence. IE corporate meddling to introduce products, characters, or scenarios. This is, however, just a hypothesis. I'm as much in the dark as anyone else.

Oh I'm insanely curious as well! And I'm sure plenty of people would ask out of genuine concern.
But still, I hope no one bugs her too much about it; her answer here makes it quite obvious that she doesn't want to discuss it.

@ProfessorOfHoers
Oh okay then, Hasbro has been meddling with a lot of things more so in season 2 honestly
that could be the reason as a fiction writer I'd hate for people to tell me to add stuff to a world I already created especially if it messed with my already established view of the world

Same here. I feel bad for Lauren considering she poured her heart into creating something she loved, only to become unhappy with it and leave.

It's probably a combination of things. Bronies want to take the show in one direction, Hasbro in another, and then Hasbro also wants to cash in on the Bronies, but don't know how to do it properly, then they also want to distance themselves from the seedier side of the Brony community so they crack down even HARDER on the safe for kids rating.
All the meanwhile she's trying to keep her original vision that just lets it stand as being appropriate for kids without coddling them and still have some amusement for adults, which now is just getting battered from all sides as this gains more traction.
I imagine Lauren feels a bit like a downhill skier caught in an avalanche.
That's not even mentioning the more personal side of things where some Bronies are trying to get her to denounce R34 or something like that, or specifically pointing out that there is porn of her OC now, and I can imagine that there could even be some minor frustration from other animators and such with how things are already moving towards season 3 and people are still treating her as the single force behind my little ponies becoming popular.

Everything just sorta adds up and I can't blame her for wanting to get out before she gets entirely jaded on something she loved and sees it driven into the ground.

That said, even with Hasbro obviously pushing the Cadance/Shining Armor deal, I thought everyone managed to handle it pretty well, and ending with a new villian, and a new race (shapeshifters, no less) has left a lot of content for creativity.

Hope no one bugs her about it.

Also hope that she wasn't THAT driven away by the unintended audience the show received. I know it's a little weird to have people in that age group watching that show, but I'd feel bad that she left because of it.

I want to say bronies as well but when she says "difficult to explain and easy to misinterpret", I think that's what we're doing.

Well we can misinterpret things that were never said as much as we want and I'm all for that but I have to agree with Grey that it was probably a number of things that added up

She left the show before bronies were even a big thing, guys. She left pretty darn early.

Well, my comment basically demonstrated exactly what she said. I wasn't implying that bronies as a whole drove her away, but that the creepy minority who get a bit too personal (even if they don't intend any harm), the conflict between what all parties involved WANT from this series, and the disproportionate level of heralding she has gotten as the "driving force" behind this series has likely made the position a bit uncomfortable.
Plus she may simply have other creative endeavors she wants to pursue.
All in all it doesn't boil down to "I hate bronies" but just simply "I'm not prepared to deal with everything that comes with how big this has gotten"

I honestly just think faust is just tired of bronies over obsessing and overrating her involvement with mlp fim. She has done so many great things in her career and worked on so many series and to be thanked on a daily basis mostly just for mlp i guess it can get annoying no? Faust did a great thing in remaking/rebooting the mlp series, but she has put in much more effort ,work and involvement in other series. And to read comments like "and probably her most successful project EVER" which pretty much is kind of a slap to her face saying "Hey everything you've ever worked on sucked compared to this " That's just over thinking it, as for most successful project ever i think she is saving that spot for Galaxy Girls.

Not really. Faust left before this fandom got truly big.

I hear it was something in her personal life that really did it.

Plus, cartoon politics is brutal stuff, just pitching a project alone. That probably sapped her energy, not that Hasbro was intervening.

Oh my gosh, this whole time I thought it was because of either Galaxy Girl stuff or Super Best Friends Forever stuff- and possibly family life and other things!!

I had no idea that working on the show was making her unhappy...

And I feel even sadder as we may never know the true reason why she left.

But we can still guess what happened!

I'll stick with it was weird for her to see guys in their 20s and 30s watching the show. And again, I really can't blame her.

To be perfectly honest, I'm still convinced she left because she couldn't get her Solar Sisters to get off the ground.

Whatever, she hasn't really been working on Season 2, just advising with it. And I just loved Season 2 even more than Season 1, so whoever's calling the shots now, she's left it capable hands.

Thanks for reviving My Little Pony, Faust.
