Anon #605: It really just felt tacked on, Brother in the Royal Guard and Captain at that. The numerous times they have been to Canterlot and no visible appearance; no introduction; nor mention of Shining Armor by the guards, soldiers or Celestia herself just plained irked me. Cadence didn't bother me as much but she felt tacked on to. Very clucky and expositional. |

Anonymous@1363779 said: Oh, cry some more. What do you expect from a slice of life comedy show? And it seemed that the rest of the main cast already knew about Shinning. Tell me, in what conversation would it be natural that her brother would be brought up? I don't talk about my brother unless asked or it's important, and I've yet too see a good opportunity that wouldn't seem forced. Bottom line, if it's not important to the plot, were not going to see it. Most people that are mad about Twi's brother is because it destroyed their retarded head canon. That's pathetic. |

Anon #925: little defensive, aren't we? It was just one statement about something that felt tacked on. Family members from the Apple family and Rarity's sister to her parents never were introduced as tacked. It flowed naturally. As did Twi's parents in Twilight's flashback on her cutie mark. Several times with the visit to Canterlot on the Gala, Discord's escape, Rarity's Elite connections, all could have made a small appearance/cameo of Shining Armor and would have generate fan question on who that guard was until the reveal. Throwing all the background info on SA in the first five minutes within a letter and a song was a major InfoDump, and hard to just accept as such because it was shoved down so fast. The Gala in frist season had build up, the season 2 finale just was not up to standard.
So if I am crying about about the some exposition, you seem highly defensive and sensitive about critisism of the show. That's equally pathetic. |

^Twilight would travel to Canterlot to move her Birthday Party so Rarity would not miss it, but could not inform her BBBFF that she was in town? Not important to the plot? guess so... |

Ironic, how Chopper is talking about the subject, considering Ace, Dragon and Garp all made an appearance on One Piece BEFORE revealing their relationship to Luffy as his brother, father and grandfather, respectively.
oh well. Back to 'Me Gusta' Chopper learing at Twi's plot... |

Anonymous@1363998 said: I hope you don't freak the fuck out when they show Scootaloo's parents, or what Fluttershy's job is, or anything like that. I don't think your heart can take it. And Shinning wasn't at Twi's birthday party for the same reason Spike, Celestia, Luna, and her parents weren't there. They weren't important to the plot by any means, and it was a Rarity episode. This style is as old as media itself. |

^^ won't really care if scoots parents make an appearance or what fluttershy's job is. I am just calling out a major exposition to the season 2 plot that some folks felt was forced into. It doesn't make it a bad show by all means, but if they make a point on how important SA is Twi's life, they could have bothered to give little build up points sometime b4 the finale came up. Instead it was dumped on our lap with a song on how close they were. You could defend the writing all you want, but I still call it a weak plot point in compared to what we were given in season one. If you can't handle that, sounds like you have the weak heart. |

Anonymous@1364963 said: So, that just means you don't get what slice of life style show is then. Just say that next time, it'll be faster. If it's not important to the plot for friendship reports, it's not going to be mentioned. There's a lot of things they don't tell us, but for whatever reason, people make a big deal about this. The reason Twilight never told her friends that she had a brother is the same reason Shining Armor kept his entire engagement to Cadence (not just the upcoming wedding) a secret from his own sister. In some families, personal matters are considered private and are rarely discussed openly. Rarity never told anything about her parents. Rainbow Dash never told anything about her parents. Fluttershy never told anything about her parents. Scootaloo never told anything about her parents. Etc, etc... And it's not like they haven't done this before in the show... oh, wait, it's nearly every episode! But since it's Twilight's family, somehow it's more important and stupid. |

Anon #137, we could go back and forward on this all bloody night on the importance of plot setting and such and it feels like it going off track on what you are downplaying on an observation that IMO was weak. Small points of background characters (like Derpy) worked, because it was "eased into" the audience. I was saying there were numerous opportunities to ease in SA without fully introducing him until the plot revolved around him. The exposition of his background relating to Twi, was roughly handled, unlike season 1 where the gala was mention on several occasions and build up a big pay off at the end. The audience had expectations of the event along wih the characters, with the season 2 finale, it was more rushed, introduced two characters the audience suppose to connect with but they came off more tacked than actually humorous like say Rarity's parents (they showed up shortly, exited out, their existence established, important to the plot but it didn't revolved around them). Even with a two-part episode, some folks did felt some headscratching moments, more often in the story rather focusing on the actual plot. You could reply constantly back on "cry some more" or use of vugarity when I was making an observation and stating my opinion (sorry if I shot the insults back, that was immature) but I still say without Faust season 2 episodes came off weaker than season 1. |

Hey, retards, they only tacked in Shining Armor and Cadence to sell a fucking playset. Mystery fucking solved. |
| Anonymous #1366148 2 months ago |
Anon #064: it wasn't a discussion of the reason why SA and cad was added, it was a discussion of how the writing them in the series was weak/rushed. But thanks for adding the"exec meddling" aspect in, compounds the fact of plot holes in the season finale... |
