Funny people say Twilight is a Mary Sue, she's far from perfect, she's constantly studying magic, and has shown real progression in character and skill through the series.
Yes she's powerful as all hell, but that's because she's the ELEMENT OF MAGIC. I mean seriously, her special talent is magic itself, so of course she's going to be crazy at it. |

I'm pretty sure most mary sues don't have a Lesson Zero moment. In fact that's more of a VILLAIN sue quality than anything.
Maybe that's why Celestia made her her own student, to curtail the next NMM. She's just an ultra powerful hikkimori, aka, only a sue in Japan. |
