The thing that always gets me about the friendzone concept is that it originated from Friends and was used to describe the relationship between Ross and Rachael. Having never actually watched Friends all that much maybe I'm wrong, but didn't that show end with them dating? |

Yeah, I was surprised too. I remember that it became a big thing back during the late nineties but I didn't realize they created the term. Wikipedia however says it so, yeah.
I'm not saying its not a real thing but the original example doesn't really hold with the inescapable void it gets painted as. |
