Well, if you can give a good enough reason for a character being an alicorn, then it at least boosts it up a bit. As much flack as he gets for it, and despite the fact that it's a fairly obvious self-insert, Ember Storm's OC at least can't fly. He's also attempted to make his OC's relationship with Twilight somewhat believable and he isn't an all-powerful black and red demon god from another universe. I still have quips about his OC, but compared to the flood of other red and black alicorn special snowflakes that were inevitable once the Sonic/furry fandoms found ponies he's actually not that bad. |

Well not to brag or anything, but alot of people have said great things about the alicorn character I made, though I don't consider him an OC. And my two of my friends whom are related to each other both have an alicorn character and they're both well made. |

Does Princess Gaia from the Pony POV series count? She was a pretty creepy villian but not really an OC.
The Wedding episode made it easier to justify and write a Alicorn OC, for better or worse. Before that Episode most people assumed that Alicorns are a physcial gods or at least very, very powerful which makes it hard to introduce more of them. In Canterlot Wedding we saw a third Alicorn and nopony was even bothered by her AND she wasn't quiet as powerful as Luna or Tia. Anyway, I depends on the writing. If you are a good writer you can make an Alicorn OC interesting and justify his or her excistence. |
