In the beginning this was true, but once the show came into its own that was no longer the case, Saint_Braeburn. That's why SA and PC don't seem to fit perfectly into the world of Equestria. |

While I'll say this comic rocks, I can't help but bring up, Pinkie's mentioned her sisters once, Sweetie Belle wasn't even Rarity's sister until 5 episodes after her debut, and RD and FS's family is currently left in the dark. Perhaps ponies just hate talking about their family? |

We didn't see Rarity's parents until the episode where they were necessary as a plot device to show that Sweetie Belle doesn't live with her sister after all, so taking care of her for one week was a big deal. It would have been a lot better if Shining Armor and Cadence had been introduced earlier, but it's not lazy writing, since they weren't necessary.
And I don't see how Shining Armor and Cadence are any more OCs than an other character, although it is very annoying that they kind of steal the show right when they're introduced. |

I agree. But, Queen Chrysalis stole the show from them when she was introduced so it all evens out. Plus, the FanDUMB being Butthurt about Shining and Cadence; means that it will spend less time being Butthurt about Vinyl's eye color. @Anon318 I'd ask you to explain, but you'd probably come off as a fool, so it's best that the subject is dropped. |

Anyway, I still enjoyed the episode enough to care about SA and PC as characters in the overall scheme of the series (one of them singing my favorite song of the season sure helped a lot). It's not like the introduction of characters who supposedly had a huge impact in the life of the Mane Six without any kind of foreshadowing beforehand and having an episode centering around them hasn't been done before (Gilda much?(Sure, it was the beginning of the 1st season, but does that make any significant difference in a show where Status Quo Is God, despite the subtle signs of continuity?)). |
