Out of a technicality, G4 is "TV-14" but manages the TV-Y7 rating. Being Hasbro, it may be TV-14 on G5.

This is the wrong question to be asking altogether. You do realize that right?

eh. whatever. Don't really care. The writing and characters would need to match FiM. No matter what it's rated, G5 has a tough act to follow.

Respectively...
- Possible step backwards?
- About right, maybe.
- Interesting.
- A bold step that no one asked for?
- that's dumb

I don't know. I think they could stay that way.

PG definitely. Keep it the same, but introduce some more controversial issues, like political oppression and secret police.

Prepare for an increase dramatic facial expressions as the budget for the show grows with it's popularity. It will probably start to resemble Ren & Stimpy in a couple of seasons.

Sorry, screwed up. I meant G4 is already "TV-PG" but isn't rated as such. So G5 may just be TV-PG

1: Isn't it already TV-Y?

2: Okay... I might be able to handle that, slightly more mature.

3: Eh, I dunno about that.

4: No.

5: NO PLEASE GO NO.

I dont kno what theese rateings mean, where I live its
G (all ages)
PG
M
MA
R (18+ only)

Going by the system I know...
Nothing has changed.
This could be intresting.
Likely failure, unlikely win.
Allmost certain failure, near if not zero chance of win.
150% chance of an epic failure. I would still watch it though :D

@BattleGT

Reasons for TV-PG rating on G4...

Insane Pinkie Pie in Party of One.

Insane Twilight. Not once, but twice she is shown crazed. Trouble with Parasprites and Lesson Zero.

Flutershy's crazy moments can be frighting to kids, especially "Come out" and "You are going to love me". They are not expecting that.

Discord. Most kids wouldn't understand him beyond the kooky personality. He's more of a adult villan.

The Royal Canterlot Wedding. How often do you see a episode like this in ANY other show.

There may be more.

@ Karados

It could be if they start to resemble the .MOV videos. I know the animation in most cartoons evolves over time as the budget increases and newer technologies become available but I think the style of the show is perfect the way it is, deficiencies and all.

This program contains material that parents may find unsuitable for younger children. Many parents may want to watch it with their younger children. The theme itself may call for parental guidance and/or the program may contain one or more of the following: some suggestive dialogue (D), infrequent coarse language (L), some sexual situations (S), or moderate violence (V).

Y7- What makes it no suitable for toddlers?
PG- Parental Guidance in My Little Pony?
14- Times for some swearing, violent, maybe suggestive ponies.

I think they should just make it TV-MA so they no longer have to stick to any guidelines that may affect a good story. They don't have to make it intentionally vulgar, but next time Rainbow Dash wants to fight some jerk-off, I want to see her kick his ass. And I want to see blood. But I don't want cussing. That would be messed up. Violence = YES! Woo! Sex = As long as it's classy and tasteful. Cussing = Why? It doesn't add to the story at all!

Other than that, The show is pretty great the way it is. Just bring back the mature first season humour and that'd be great.

Oh man... This would be so awesome...

Coming back to this...

If I wrote G5, it would be TV-MA due to turning it into a crime drama that ends with a bittersweet ending. It would deconstruct the entire genre, where the sweet nature of Equestria comes at the cost of the well being other countries and the residence are brainwashed their entire lives into thinking of the princess as some sort of god. Ultimately, the hero will solve the case of the century which will leave her into inner conflict, reveal her evidence and risk a civil war, or pretend nothing happened. Then out of nowhere, I pull an ending no one could see coming unless they paid attention to every little detail from beginning to end.

That's just me though.
