And they say love cannot be explained by science! Who's laughing now fools?!

Ok, How many of you google "oxyticin" after reading this? |
| 441 #1341905 2 months ago |
Lot'sa words to say "I am alone, cold and miserable, and Am trying to make everyone else feel the same by using a cartoon horse". |
| Anonymous #1341909 2 months ago |
@441
Either that or they're just doing it for the lulz. |
| Anonymous #1341910 2 months ago |
Sapience is just electricity and chemistry. Knowing how something works doesn't make that thing any less. |
| Anonymous #1341911 2 months ago |
If that hormone does all that shit, then it's a good thing. I don't see the problem. |

Not really; understanding the functions of life doesn't make them any less significant. In my opinion, it makes them much more beautiful. |
| 441 #1341921 2 months ago |
By that logic we're just giant lumps of chemicals.
I mean, Why live? Everything you know is nothing but a meaningless cluster of numbers! |
| Anonymous #1341925 2 months ago |
@441
A beautiful cluster of numbers |

Anyone reminded of this

Personally, I just think that applying theoretical science to more emotional and complicated aspects of life such as love just takes away the beauty of the mystery of the thing.
It's kinda like that woman wearing a burca that you think is a really hot lady, until you actually see her bare and it's revealed that she's just sorta 'meh. |

Tim Burton's version was better, at least he used the songs from the book. |

But it didn't have Gene Wilder, and therefore it is the lesser movie. |

Gene's retired since 1999. I don't get the appeal of the 1971 version, maybe it's one of those things that US loves but the rest of the world just doesn't care that much. |
| Anonymous #1341965 2 months ago |
So if god is love, does that mean god is oxytocin? |

Sorta like our reaction to Soccer/Football |

I just realized we found out what love is.
Someone tell the Roxbury Boys!
Those poor bastards have been bobbing there heads since the 1990's. |

| ZORDON #1342014 2 months ago |
@441 The mistery in it is not what makes love tick, but who. I, personally, find joy in learning emotionally. I mean, I'm all for science. But there are things that, whatever the precision, or the instruments, or the equations, science can't make into numbers. That brings uncertainity, and I enjoy uncertainity. |

| HumanaeVitae #1342545 2 months ago |
From an article in the New Scientist, I remember that they said something along the lines of Oxytocin not being strong enough to promote love or was it that it made people more susceptible to lies, I can't remember. |

Love is a verb, not a noun.
Do not confuse the sensations produced by the hormones with the emotion-- or the emotion with the human bond which creates it. |
