Sigh. This again.

I don't like black Twilight, but I got no beef with black Twiligth. In fact, I loves me some black Twiligth.

I'm mostly mad at how winx this pic is.

But Token Sparkle is aggravating too. Bring on the black Rarity!

The artist spells it Twiligth in the pic and the image title; is he/she trying to prove that black people can't spell.

You didn't add a question mark at the end of your sentence.

Do all Anons suck at grammar?

Its not that I don't like black Twilight. Its that I don't GET black Twilight. I mean, why her? What makes her the token minority? Is it because she's purple? Because she's smart? Because she's from Canterlot?

from what I remember, it's because she happened to be the first one who was drawn that way - probably by an artist experimenting with possible character designs, rather than for any particular reason. but because she was the first character where a non-caucasian humanization was seen, and because it sparked a big argument that unmasked people's feelings on non-caucasian humanizations in general, it became the archetypal example in the fandom consciousness.

From the thumbnail, it looked like the artist gave her a sexy goatee.

I didn't realize there was going to be a problem about something like this. I'm disappointed with whoever has a problem with a humanization that ISN'T Caucasian-based... whether it makes sense to you or not.

It's always Twilight, though. Why not, say, Applejack?

Look: We're all going to see the girls in different ways in human form. So what? What's wrong with liking one or liking another? Do we have quotas to make of how many people like one ethnicity over another? Do we have Pony Thought Police making sure we all like the right kind of humanization?

No.

So I'm going to go ahead and state, for the record, as long as the humanized pony is attractive to me, I don't CARE what her skin color is. Maybe the people who obsess over that should ask themselves if they really, honestly want to be this concerned about skin color. It has all sorts of unfortunate implications.

I still just can't see humanized Twilight as being black. Asian, sure. Hispanic, maybe. But black? Nah. She simply doesn't have the same personality type as most of the black girls I know, even the more studious ones. In fact, Rarity is probably the closest of the Mane 6 to that personality type, though I have a hard time imagining her as being black, either, for some reason. Maybe it's the accent? Maybe it's because she's a marshmallow? I dunno.

In my mind, the only humanized chars who would most definitely be black are Zecora and Sapphire Shores. Those two are so obvious that I can't possibly view them as anything else. Beyond them, the Apple family is white, and that's about all that's set in stone for me. All the other chars are up for debate, regardless of what human race we're talking about. Whatever works, works. :\
