In my headcanon he and Twilight Sparkle are Japanese, too. I've already seen some interpretations of Shining Armor as a Japanese human that look pretty convincing. I really can't see him or Twilight as black, though (sorry if that makes me a racist). |

Haha Anyway, Rarity's, Fluttershy's, and Twilight's eyes all seem different from the usual (I think Ponyville is mostly "white") so it's possible those 3 stray from the norm racially. |

Could be, but I doubt it (implying that ponies have socially constructed races like humans do that hints at some cultural similarities.)
I don't really see the ponies as having those kinds of races outside of Earth Pony, Unicorn, Pegasus, and Alicorn, but if there are races, then I wouldn't base my suspicions solely on how they act or talk. I will say that most black people have a lot of the same cultural upbringings, so they'll share some of the same dialects, accents, and values; the values having a direct effect on their behavior. However, I've been getting "You sound/act white" for my entire life, and I'm not even a light-skinned black guy. It makes me an outlier and my traits only emphasize the rule, but it doesn't make me white. Food for thought. |

The whole "Twilight is black" thing started, I think, because someone thought that her purple color would translate as dark skin if she was humanized. Racist dickbags then went, "She can't be black, she's smart" so people naturally pushed back by declaring her black.
But now we have shining armor, who is Twilight's brother, and he is a very white pony. I guess we can say that pony coloration isn't applicable to the pony's humanization, but then why designate Twilight as black to begin with? |

Wasn't it Lauren Faust who said that the ponies aren't supposed to be analogous to any human race? And following that, wouldn't it then be stupid to care about what race the ponies are when humanizing them, since it could technically be whatever the artist wanted? |
