Yeah, fuck the fact that Rainbows ego was so huge she didn't even listen to the ponies she was trying to rescue (even to the point were if Mare do Well *didn't arrive, those ponies would of been seriously hurt, or worse), and was so thralled by the fame that it got in the way of her saving lives, and her friends needed a way to show her how it's done without forcing it down her throat and lead by example, and to show her that no matter how good you *think* you are, there's always going to be somepony who might be better at the job.

And being in disguise helped so that the other mane 6 didn't get fame and attention. If they didn't disguise themselves, it would of been disastrous and distracting, and the lesson would of been lost.

And it's not like direct confrontation from her friends would of done anything. When has she listen to them before? She's stubborn, and the only way to make a point get across her is to *show* her, not just tell her. She wouldn't of listen anyway.

And you know what would of sucked out Rainbow's reputation? Ponies dying because she was to busy yelling out her catch phrase. They saved her from herself *and* the ponies that needed rescue.

The whole point of the episode was to be mysterious and the reveal was suppose to be shocking. If they told her, it would be *way* to obvious who was under the mask. And it's a 22 minute show. Why would the animator waste their time on something that wouldn't of worked and would just kill the reveal at the end?

It's okay to feel accomplished. It's another thing entirely to have photo shoots and yelling your catch phrase before even attempting to rescue anyone.

I mean, how many ponies did Rainbow saved in that construction accident, like, one? And how many did Pinkie save? 5 at least. And Twilight fixed a dam while it was crumbling, something that Rainbow caused.

My Little Pony FiM's messages: Go out, make friends, have fun, it's okay to be nice, and be respectful of others, even if they are jerks.

Yet most of the fans are geeky shut-ins, only have E-Friends, highly defensive, and are not respectful of others and criticism, especially when they have an opinion they don't like.

Anyone see the problem here?

Alot of you guys who keep saying that the rest of the mane 6 were being jerks to Rainbow seem to keep forgetting one important detail. They DID TELL RAINBOW SHE WAS GOING OVERBOARD WITH THE FAME, BUT SHE DIDN'T LISTEN!

They had to go through the Mare-Do-Well because Rainbow wouldn't listen to them. It was the only way she could learn. How can you guys not pay attention when her friends EXPLICITLY TOLD HER THAT SAVING PEOPLE COMES FIRST, APPRECIATING YOUR FAME COMES SECOND?

Personally I thought Rainbow Dash was out of character in this episode.

Yeah, she has a bit of an ego but this episode seemed to really exaggerate that and make her out to be a lot worse than she normally is.

You could say that she became better at the end of the episode but that's only because she was acting much worse than she usually does for the sake of that episode's story.

How can it be out of character if it's written by people who actually work on it? Ans she was much worse? She was on par with nearly every episode she was in. She wanted fame, she got fame, she let it go to her head... it's not hard to figure out.

This episode was written by Merriwether Williams, who has a tendency to write the characters as being more mean and unpleasant than usual.

This was also the first episode that she wrote for the show so its not like she was a long time member of the writing staff.

Outside of this episode and Hearth's Warming Eve (which was also written by Williams) I have never seen Rainbow Dash act as bad as she did here. So I really don't agree that she was on par.

I guess you just close your eyes at every other time Rainbow's a sick. Every episode staring her has her acting like that. Remember how she basically shitted on the idea of reading? Yeah.

And I thought we liked this show because the characters are three dimensional and have flaws. Sorry your waifu got her comeuppances.

I never said she didn't have flaws. She is probably the most flawed of the main characters. I'm aware of this.

I'm simply saying that her flaws seemed exaggerated in this episode.

As for the reading example, I wouldn't really call that being a dick, she was just being close-minded. There's a difference.

@Hackron. Well, No shit. Afterall that episode was written by, well who would you guess,
*drum roll*
Merriweather Williams of course. It is widely known that this cunt can't write in character, or she couldn't in her early episodes like MMDW and HWE. (sorry for bringing this shit up again but you guys started it this time.)

I find it even more disturbing that some anons (like the one above) are actually supporting/defending Merriweather's way of writing RD. It's like they even enjoy the Schadensfreude, WTF. Anyway, I agree that her acting in MMDW was nothing like how RD is sually written in the NON-merriweather ep's, that's my expression at least.

People like change things in an episode to have something to bitch about, or they're so biased that they miss-heard something and need something to complain about. People actually think like you do. Wow. You've got some serious blinders on. Ans when you have to insult someone to get a point across, you lost all credibility. All I hear is butthurt rage from a RD fanboy that can't accept what happened on the show actually happened. And RD was stubborn in other episodes, too. That's basically one of her traits. All of her episodes are from her being stubborn in some way. How do you miss a a cartoon characters personalities so bad? It's written for kids, and you don't get it. You're being out smarted by children.

1337744: This is also the first time she got so famous in a long while and this is also the first time about her dealing with that fame directly rather indirectly like hanging out with the Wonderbolts for example. It was bound to happen to a character like her and I might have to agree that the writer of this episode did kind of take the easy way out with her. But at least everybody else is happy for RD to soak in the fame rather than want her to drop it all together like some other characters in their respective shows.

Anonymous@1338427 said: All further arguing and reasoning is worthless and a waste of time.

Something I would like to point out: When one of the fillies is asking for her autograph or something, she tells Rainbow Dash that she would like to be just like her. Rainbow Dash' reply? "Aim high, kid, but don't aim for the impossible". Consider how RD feels about the Wonderbolts, they are her heroes, she wants to be just like them if not better; how would RD feel if, as a filly, one of the Wonderbolts would have told her the same thing? Because RD may be for all these fillies what the Wonderbolts are for RD.

Not only that, but previously she says, and I quote: "This way, I can stay focused on performing those acts of bravery that nopony else has the guts to perform. Yep, it takes guts. But it also takes brains."

At the Sugarcube Corner, the other ponies ARE NOT

...bragging, they are trying to drive the point home; that RD is not "the only one with the brains and the guts" to be a hero, anyone can be a hero in their own way. Twilight, for example, tells her that doing such a spell would take a lot of studing, something appropriately contrasting with RD. Fluttershy and Applejack mention the values of being kind and humble, and letting actions speak for themselves. Even Rarity, in a way, is doing her part; there are many ways to help, some less obvious than others, and having a talent like making dresses shouldn't be dismissed just because it's not obvious or even aparent at first.

If Rainbow Dash was (albeit unintentionally) ruining others' hope of being a hero, Mare Do Well proved that anyone can be a hero.

Also, I think you guys are missing the fact that
Twilight was intentionally causing these disasters. It literally could not be more obvious. They all happen close enough to make RD feel bad about herself, but far enough so she couldn't do anything to stop them.

See this? This thread right here? This is why I hate people and think most all of them are retarded. I don't care if you're my fellow brony, I'm still gonna call you out on saying a lot of stupid shit or just generally acting like an ass.

Most of these My Little Moral things are good for a laugh, this one especially, but I doubt they were meant to be taken seriously. It's like Faux News; take only a few key details from the episode and roll with it, fuck everything else that happened, even if the story would end up differently if you HAD taken the rest into account.

As for RD in the episode and this Merriweather woman, I've yet to find anything to complain about. Characters' traits are often exaggerated in particular episodes, depending on the situation, so I wasn't surprised. Honestly, I don't think she was out of character at all. She just got a taste of fame, then it got out of hand. It happens all the time, on DOZENS of cartoons, but I don't hear anyone bitching about them.

Everyone here is only bitching about all this because they feel entitled to this show, think it should be written for them. We're adults watching a kids' show; we're bound to notice the inconsistencies that will crop up. But instead of laughing about them and making jokes, we argue. Well, Y'ALL argue. I sit back and watch, muttering about how pointless arguing about ponies is.
