meaning of "mi amore" "Mi" is MY in Spanish; "amore" is LOVE in Italian. That is all, which means that it is a mixing of Spanish and Italian, thus incorrect in any of those two languages. In Spanish the correct wording is "Mi amor"; in Italian, although Italians usually [often] omit some final letter in order to make an easy and "well-sounding" fusion, "Mio amore" is the right form. |

@791 ACTUALLY, "Mi" in Italian is a singular personal pronoun. I believe it is equivalent to "me" or "I" depending on the circumstances. Roughly translated, I believe "Mi amore cadenza" mean "I love everyone" (or everypony in this case.) This is why she is speaking Italian AND ONLY ITALIAN in the picture.
"Mi scusi" = Excuse me. "Signore" = sir. |

I see, though I don't think I've ever heard the term used in such a broad way as that before. As I said, I usually have seen it only used to describe, specifically, people whose ethnic background pertains to Latin America. Outside of the Western hemisphere, I don't even think the term is even really used by anyone.
Whatever the case, though, after looking at more stuff related to Cadence, it seems to me that she was pretty obviously meant to be Italian (especially with the name of her song being "This Day Aria", and "aria" being an Italian word), and I think the "mi" part of "Mi Amore Candenza" was just an honest mistake that a lot of people are reading too much into. |

This isn't the first time the MLP crew has goofed on foreign language stuff. I remember hearing that Zecora was originally supposed to speak genuine Swahili, but they couldn't find a translator in time, so they just had the voice actress use Swahili-sounding gibberish that Faust named "Zebra language". Still, if it was just an honest mistake, then they could have at the very least checked Google Translate... Though I doubt the target audience of little girls would care that much. |
