Changeling steals one of the Mane Six's identities
Accident happens, real Mane Six dies because of Changeling. Changeling feels genuinely terrible, replaces them to honor their memory. Changeling begins to feel strange as the days go on, its personality begins to change. Starts having weird dreams, with the pony it replaced speaking to it. Pony is telling Changeling she forgives it. Changeling starts to crack. Begins forgetting who it was. Begins feeling generous, honest, magical, loyal, kind. It can't stand the reality of what it did, sneaks into Canterlot, finds the elements, offers itself to return the pony it replaced to this world. The elements know that it is now pure of heart, accepts its offering. Pony returns like she was only dreaming. Nopony ever knows the Changeling's story. |

Nah its better if you use scootaloo. She's got no ties, she can't get her cutie mark, ect. And at this point the CMC might as well be main characters. |

Years ago on the farm, a changling accidently knocked a rockslide down on young Pinkamina. Panicking when it heard Pinkie's father coming, the changling copied Pinkie and took her place. Over the years, the trama of accidently killing the foal caused it to forget it what happened and it believed it really was a pony. |

Rational and good. During fight scene changelings shapeshift into mane 6. That would be stupid if they can't know who is changeling and who is pony. And they seems to know. Fluttershy was able to fool them. |

Here's something to think about: who are the two ponies Scootaloo has been seen to idolize?
We have Rainbow Dash, who is the Element of Loyalty (for Queen and hive!) and yet is still driven and individualistic. Then, there was her brief admiration of the Mysterious Mare-Do-Well, a heroine always in disguise... Also something to think about: even before Queen Chrysalis was forced to reveal herself, Canterlot was warned about an incoming attack. Possibly by a Changeling with a conscience? |
