He acknowledges that he has a problem, but he keeps dwelling on that fact instead of looking for a remedy.

He's just going through another step on the art ladder. He'll eventually realize that the only way to draw good pictures is to draw a million crappy ones, and that he's probably gotten past 90% of the crappy ones and crappy artists that give up too easily. |
