I'd say a majority of doujin actually might not be sexual. Not that there's anything wrong with either.

"Doujin" simply implies that it's an unofficial story or work. Whether it's made by fans or by a company seeking to profit from the fandom, calling it a doujin is a way of letting everyone know the work isn't actually tied to the original piece or its creators.
Technically the definition is wider than that, but this covers its western usage. |
