@SomeoneBored: Yeeeah. I'm sorry, but Soren's not really all that great in either Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn.
In Path of Radiance, the averages of every Mage and Sage are similar. And he's likely to get surpassed by the Mages and Sages in question (except maybe Bastian) on grounds of the lack of a strength growth alone. Adding to that, there's also a lack of viable support options on Soren's end when compared to someone like Ilyana or Calill. And speaking of Calil, there's the fact that she has easy access to B level tomes outside of Light Magic at best. In Radiant Dawn, Mages in general got hit with the Nerf Bat. Tomes aren't very strong, and Corona and Flare don't really result in an OHKO like Sol or Luna does. They're also liable to either not double anything or get doubled in the later chapters due to low speed caps. And then there's the durability issues. Yet despite this, Micaiah wins as best Magic unit due to availability and essentially being in a modified version of FE 7/8's Monk class. |
