It's funny, because the artist got it backwards (red eyed Vinyl Scratch is the fake one, and the purple eyed on is the REAL one made by the show's animators). It's amazing how some fans completely reject the idea that the show's artists have any say in what the characters THAT THEY DESIGNED look like. |

Meh... The joke is funny, but I worry that comics like this make people feel validated when they go into denial about things in the show. Obviously Vinyl in the show was not a changeling so this comic should not be taken seriously, but there are still a lot of fans out there who still have it in their little heads that somehow, the show was incorrect and that Vinyl Scratch has red eyes (even though it was actually the fans who were incorrect when they started drawing her with red eyes).
The reason I worry is that right now, what this fandom does not need is for people in denial to be encouraged to keep resisting. They need to get the rage out of their system so we can move on, because it would be truly retarded if something like this actually caused a rift in the fandom the way Derpy's voice did. The fanon is supposed to suppliment things that are in the TV show, but some people are trying to use fanon to remove things from the show that they don't like, which is both childish and irrational. Vinyl Scratch does not have red eyes in the show, and that is never going to change. The fans who prefer reds eyes can either accept it and move on, or they can continue to pretend that their own version is the "real" version, and that the one in the show is the "fake" version, and the latter option has thus far done nothing but cause division amongst fans. |

The more immature I see fans react to things that don't fit their head canon, the more I believe the show has reached its target audience, little children.
Okay maybe I was a bit mean there, but people should just grow up and realize this is just a tv show. They are obsessing over cartoon characters. And on the issue of Vinyl Scratchs eye colors, stupid eye color. And magenta is not far from red. Imagine if they had picked blue or green or something far off from red. My easy solution to eye color issue is simple colored contact lenses, or because everything else in the show is magical, Vinyl uses her own unicorn magic to change her eyes color. |
