@546: You are misreading the statement. Soarin is "the studly pegasus" and Big Mac is "the studly earth pony." It's not just saying that Pegasi mares are obsessed with Soarin or Earth Pony mares are obsessed with Big Macintosh-- there is no racial barrier for the mares that either of them can get. |

Uh, I think they mean Soarin is the pegasus equivalent to Big Macintosh. Applejack isn't being called a pegasus, just like the clearly visible unicorns and pegasi mobbing Big Mac aren't being called Earth ponies. |

They would have to do something pretty awesome with Blueblood if they wanted to get the fans to forgive him. Some of the fan works about Blueblood have made him a bit more likeable, but in terms of canon he's pretty useless.
Even Fancy Pants is pretty far away from having Big Mac levels of swag in terms of fandom perception. People like him, but he doesn't have nearly as much fan art as Big Mac or even Soarin, and he's not thrown into nearly as much shipping (I think most people assumed he was in a relationship with Fleur). |

^ It won't stop fans from shipping Shining Armor, but I have seen very little of it, if any. Only extremely dedicated shippers can delude themselves even after a character officially once they're married. That goes a step beyond simply being ignorant about what the show's creators would actually be willing to put in the show's canon. |
