Stop your whining, Spike and Rarity were meant to be from episode one. It was a long arc in the series. Funny, the only real arc as each episode was more or less of it's own. |

How do you do that without creating massive fan hate for Rarity? Rarity is gonna be the new Blue Blood with Spike being Rarity. I mean, even now if you call Rarity a gold digger for taking advantage of Spike's crush to trick him out of his fire ruby, some fans are gonna get butt hurt. The best solution isn't to friendzone Spike but instead a NEW GIRL comes into the picture and Spike develops a crush on her. To be honest, I hope they do this because Rarity is mean to poor Spike. He deserves a better girl. |

I disagree. Even if her feelings for Spike aren't romantic, she clearly cares about him substantially. She cherishes the ruby he gave her, not because it's a pretty bauble but because it was a generous gift from Spike, and she has the most violent and passionate reaction to Spike's being in danger when he goes off on the dragon migration, arguably moreso than Twilight, even. Plus, she has the happiest (and cutest) reaction to his safety out of herself, Rainbow Dash and Twilight. I think her habit of using Spike's crush died after Secret of my Excess. Whether or not she'll wind up reciprocating his feelings, well, time will tell. I doubt it'd happen, but Spike's crush on Rarity has been his defining character trait since the show's inception, and I don't think the writers are going to forget that any time soon. |
