i would say yes but with out the episodes awesome story she would be lacking a lot....so maybe not at first |
| Anonymous #1310424 2 months ago |
The same answer I would give if someone told me the current ending to ME3 was a fanfiction one: NO |
| Rhino #1310431 2 months ago |
We never shipped her with Cteno? |
| Anonymous #1310432 2 months ago |
>Villain Song
>Villain Song >Villain Song When OCs start coming with their own villain songs I'll adore them all. |
| Anonymous #1310434 2 months ago |
She was a good, if painfully generic, villain. All she is, all she ever should be. |
| Glord #1310439 2 months ago |
Yes.
If I felt like taking the time to read whatever she was in, which is unlikely, so if she was an OC I would never know she existed probably. |
| Glord #1310442 2 months ago |
@Rhino
Someone will now though. |
| Harlequin_Jester #1310445 2 months ago |
Her color scheme would probably turn me off completely, so she would have to have one hell of a winning personality. |
| Leidenpierce #1310448 2 months ago |
I didn't exactly like her in the show, so, definitely not. |
| fanthrose #1310450 2 months ago |
Yes. Her design is awesome. |
| Anonymous #1310451 2 months ago |
Probably not, but I don't think I would hate her. Bad oc character becomes the sole focus in a story, but she was more of a tool to tell a story with. |
| Anonymous #1310454 2 months ago |
*if she were |
| Anonymous #1310458 2 months ago |
probably but I like most OC's |
| Cgeta #1310467 2 months ago |
For a well designed character it doesn't really matter that much, if it is an OC or canon.
This also applies to the Ikea pony, Cteno, Surprise, etc. I would have my problems with Chrysalis though: She's like an Alicorn, and she looks kinda like a bitch, with her hair and expressions sometimes. Since she is canon, I like to hate her >:D But I don't dislike her. I like her in the way she is of course. |
| Anonymous #1310479 2 months ago |
No, because OC can never be so awesome. |
| NightJack #1310481 2 months ago |
If she was just as well written, yes, but that would very unlikely if she was an OC. |
| Anonymous #1310499 2 months ago |
No. And I wouldn't like Batman either if he were an OC. I like Chrysalis, and Batman, because they make for good stories. |
| Anonymous #1310517 2 months ago |
^what he said |
| TobiasKazama #1310522 2 months ago |
Yes I would, powerful enemy OC alicorns are fine with me.
It's the heroic loved-by-all OC alicorns I don't like, and even then; if they are well written and properly explained in the story - I might still like them. |
| SilverWind #1310523 2 months ago |
I like all OC's because thats what most characters are really, characters thought up by an artist, i would have preferred her as a male tho |
| zanzibar #1310529 2 months ago |
Even though I 'love, love, love villains, I think the part where she single-hoofedly beat Celestia in horn-to-horn combat would not go down well, considering the reason she can is only there because of two characters which were themselves thrust so suddenly into canon-hood. |
| Psychopomf #1310530 2 months ago |
Well that depends.
Does this mean the entire Royal Canterlot Wedding is a fanfiction? Because if so, definately not her nor any of the other characters. I just don't think a fan fic writer could make any of them as lovable as Studio B did. No offense fanfic writers. But its not a matter of making OCs lovable, but also ones that radically alter the canon. I don't think any of you can do it adequately. |
| Niggoslav_Krawczyk #1310532 2 months ago |
Don't worry NJ, you'll get your wish. I can see the Changeling OC recolours now.
On the other wing it gives us something to go to for insulting crappy OCs. They must be so crappy and unponylike because they are changeling infiltrators! I find her quite pretty, but her personality definitely is way too Disney. I was waiting for her to fly to the top of the tower, Twilight following, and then Fluttershy lands on her back while she's gloating and causes her to fall to her doom. There's a lot of shades of OCness (a lot of people mentioning she looks like NMM for instance) but she could have been ridiculously awesome had she been handled by a better writer. |
| Niggoslav_Krawczyk #1310540 2 months ago |
also her mane reminds me of Pinkamena's, not just the straightness but the placement of the 'flop', anyone else see that? Alicorn Pinkamena, we're DOOM'D |
| Gentle_Coltte_of_Leisure #1310552 2 months ago |
Does her design still fit flawlessly with the show? Is she still backed with her story(which would be fanfiction in that case)? Does she still have those sexy, fuckable leg-holes?
Yes? Then yes. |
| Anonymous #1310555 2 months ago |
There's a difference between OC and Cannon.
Cannon gives out Character and of course it's Cannon. OC is a bit of a gamble, There could be no character at all. |
| Anonymous #1310565 2 months ago |
I would probably think it was a poor fanfiction to begin with. I expect fanfics to take a more serious approach to the show, without any of the "friendship ex machina" (or love ex machina in this case). Considering she feeds off of love, I felt it was a sort of silly thing, and I really wish she fed more on strong emotions or something of the sort to make it seem less childish.
Of course, I don't see why making her an OC would change how much I like about her. |
| mindcannon #1310566 2 months ago |
Probally not, since it would be non-canon |
| Anonymous #1310580 2 months ago |
The difference between the two which makes something okay for Canon but not for non-Canon is authorial intent.
When the original authour creates a character with incredible power or a unique role, you can normally trust it's because there is some intended purpose the character is meant to play which fits well with the story and how it was meant to unfold. When someone writing fan material makes up some strange new character it almost certainly does NOT fit with the existing universe because the original authour had no intention of creating said characters. That's why the best original content is unobtrusive and unrelated to the main characters and stories, since it's exploring areas where the authour had no previous intent. It's why things like sequels and writer changes make people nervous - anything that feels off, wrong, or poor about a story decision is made worse by the thought that it's an inferior addition grafted onto the original, quality material. |
| FeralSocks018 #1310590 2 months ago |
^Indeed. |
| Vree #1310644 2 months ago |
^^The problem with that hypothesis is that FiM -is- a show by multiple writers who do not follow each other's headcanons, and their stories do sometimes step on each others' toes.
My answer to the first question: my reaction is 100% the same as if it was fanfiction. |
| Anonymous #1310662 2 months ago |
Depends on her characterisation. If a character has a strong, unique and believable characterisation, I'd be interested in learning more about the character. |
| Anonymous #1310674 2 months ago |
If she still had that beautiful voice? Yes. |
| werkbau0748 #1310700 2 months ago |
I feel perfectly fine about her being in the show, but I am starting to consider filtering her out of my booru. I mean, as a viewer I am okay, but as a fan I don't really care much. Not the type of character I'd download/search pictures of.
Anyway, I don't really get the reasoning behind the question, other than "curiosity". Why does a new character makes people think of OCs? |
| Jack-o-Lantern #1310724 2 months ago |
I think she will be as loved as Cteno.
AND IF SOMEPONY DRAWS R34 OF CHRYSALIS X CTENO MY DICK IS GONNA EXPLODE!!! |
| Anonymous #1310736 2 months ago |
@werkbau0748: Because for all intents and purposes, the only thing that makes her different from various oh-so-totally-dark-and-original overdesigned OCs made in pony generator is that she's canon. |
| Sevireth #1310737 2 months ago |
Will you just look at this unreasonable amount of mental notes I'm taking.
My metaphorical mental notebook is hyperbolically bursting from this imaginary ink I'm fictitiously pouring into it, it's literally unreal. |
| Anonymous #1310752 2 months ago |
she looks like adult nyx |
| AwfulWeatherman #1310764 2 months ago |
I'm actually rather open-minded about OC characters. As long as a fair amount of thought's put into making them 3-dimensional, you know? |
| Anonymous #1310767 2 months ago |
No. I wouldn't really like anypony at all. |
| Moon_Dew #1310781 2 months ago |
I'm with AwfulWeatherman on this, as long as an OC's well thought out then I've got no problem with it. |
| Zancrow #1310783 2 months ago |
Fuck you with your OC raging!
She was in the show and is an Alicorn. Get over it! |
| Nightweaver20xx #1310831 2 months ago |
No, I can honestly say I wouldn't. Probably because the writer would turn her into some woobie Mary Sue, instead of the straightforward evil performance they gave her. |
| Anonymous #1310843 2 months ago |
She had her role in the episode and she filled it well. Not to mention that her overly nasty and dramatic behaviour was pretty funny and the song was a good one too.
If one starts to deconstruct every character then he sees only cliches everywhere and can enjoy nothing. Thus I see no point in overanalyzing everything. |
| Anonymous #1310856 2 months ago |
Considering my Knowledge of the Changeling Mythology (Changelings typically being faerie children that pretend to be the human children that faeries steal and raise as their own), yes. |
| AppleDash #1310867 2 months ago |
She really needs the episode for me to like her much. If, say, the royal wedding episodes were good quality fan-made episodes with the same plot I would still like Cadence, Shining Armor, and Chrysalis even though they would be OCs. |
| Takashi_0 #1310878 2 months ago |
Since I'm not a ragetard like the rest of this site, yes I would. |
| picard #1310915 2 months ago |
No, it would hate hate hate her. |
| Mighty_Dodongo #1310930 2 months ago |
Hey, Chrysalis... I always was in love with you. I want to lick your horn and bite your nose. You will use your horn to penetrate my ass. I will scream as blood will pour out of my ass. Then, i will use my MIGHTY DODONGO to dig tunnel in your pussy. I will connect 380 volt battery to my MIGHTY DODONGO to enchance our orgasms. As electricity will flow through my MIGHTY DODONGO, i will sing Soviet Anthemn. I will use your pussyjuice to make lemonade for our friends. You will invite Dashie, so i can puke in her ass. I will then surgically connect Celestia, Luna and Cadence to make Pony Centipede. My MIGHTY DODONGO will then go into throat of Cadence, pass through gastric system, up to the opening of the anus of Celestia. Then, while listening to ,,DMT'' from 1200 micrograms, I will use my MIGHTY DODONGO to pleasure Discord. My MIGHTY DODONGO will penetrate his anus 3000 times a second. Then, i will stick derpy's muffins in Lyra's ass. I will make Lyra happy by sticking my hand inside of her Squickhole. Then,Bon-Bon will use AK-47 to pleasure my anus. I will make cupcakes of penises of every stallion in Equestria. After pouring Granny Smith's diarrhea on cupcakes, i will puke on them and i will feed Fluttershy with these. I will then force Spike to pleasure my MIGHTY DODONGO with his little hands. Covered in Acid. I will then have anal sex with Shining Armor. While having nails in my anus. Finally, i will swallow Big mac's sperm. And puke all of this into Apple Bloom's pussy. Have a nice day! |

| Anonymous #1311039 2 months ago |
Honestly I'd expect more out of a fanfic. The authors on the show have ratings, making sure its understandable to younger viewers, the shows episodic nature, etc to consider. They've got allot more limits and restraints placed on them. A fan fic has pretty much none of those, so I actually hold authors to a higher standard in some ways. The main thing I'd ding a fan fic on with her is a lack of any real set up, she kind of just appears out of nowhere and starts fighting off the strongest characters in the setting. Something like that would require considerable build up or a good explanation for in a fic.
The character itself though I don't mind, but I've always had a soft spot for villains that are just villains; without some overwrought sob story or misunderstanding. Not that I hate that all the time, but it's overdone in modern fiction I think. Sometimes the enemy is just an asshole and unrepentant about it. |
| Sindri #1311042 2 months ago |
Take the same question and apply it to Luna. Or Twilight. Or Pinkie. Or Discord. Or Trixie. Or Rainbow Dash.
The quality of a character is not dependent on who makes them, or whether they have a strange character design, or how powerful they are. It's in the quality of the writing, the stories, the characterization around them. If I heard somebody talking about their OC who was the most powerful unicorn ever, or a reality warping earth pony, or a rainbow-maned pony faster than anything else in the known 'verse, and that was all I heard, I'd probably dismiss them as another crappy Mary Sue. Same with Chrysalis. But if they were introduced as part of a brilliantly written story, like the royal wedding episode or Fallout Equestria or something, then they're an interesting and unique character. |
| getteremperor3 #1311074 2 months ago |

I don't know. If she was OC, she would certainly be one of the more interesstingly designed OCs. |
| Latias4Ever #1311979 2 months ago |
This fandom? You think? These idiots would hate her, create shitstorms over nothing, and just hate the creator, OP, you're an idiot for still having fate in this fandom. Me? I'd like Chrysalis, yes, think I'm lying? I like Nyx, never had any problem with her, I love Cteno, even though you idiots are trying to ban her from here because of some of Slugbox's words, sure. I can't come up with more examples because I can't remember of any right now, but seriously, you people WOULD hate Chrysalis if she was an OC, you can't deny it. |
| Lemonite #1312045 2 months ago |
This is a stupid question. That's like asking if we would still like Luna if she was an OC. Or Derpy. |
| candrew #1312054 2 months ago |
If she was the same as she was in the show: than yes, I would still like her. That wouldn't happen of course because the writer would try and give her some sob backstory or something.
OCs in general I find work better as antagonists. As protagonists they tend to exist more as shoe horned love interests and overpowered sues than actual characters. |

it's a clever idea - taking the traditional pitfalls of mediocre OCs (top-heavy design, making everything "about them" and insinuating themselves into their love life, &c) and then playing them sideways.
for me, I think the extent to which I'd buy it would depend greatly on the author's execution of the idea. |
| EricNeoMatrix #1312075 2 months ago |
Maybe. If she was made a little less (painfully) generic, then I would probably like her even if she was an OC. |
| Anonymous #1312192 2 months ago |
stupid question from butthurt OC maker |
| Shader #1312728 2 months ago |
Chrysalis, yes.
Interestingly designed villain. Cadence, no. If you put a main character like Cadence into a story, it would be laughed at. |
| Ashdreg #1312767 2 months ago |
I wouldn't like Queen Chrysalis if she was a fan made OC. Reason being, the background would inevitably fuck up any chance of being likeable. |
| Anonymous #1312864 2 months ago |
@Takashi_0: O.o ... so, if I'm new here, and I eventually adjust, will I be covered head-to-toe in band-aids like you are, Twilight? |
| Veya #1313744 2 months ago |
In all fairness, I love Chrysalis, I just hate, hate, hate the leather panting, she is evil, twisted and unredeemable, but people inssist on making the one character without a single likeable non-villainous quality into cute and adorable. |
| mindcannon #1313810 2 months ago |
I wouldn't like her, cause she would not be canon. Such the life of a canonfag. |
| mindcannon #1313824 2 months ago |
Ha. -69 seconds. |
| Anonymous #1313839 2 months ago |
@Veya I disagree. I think she's arguably the MOST redeemable. NMM was basically a demon. She wanted to destroy the world, full stop. Discord is an insane god of chaos who, beneath all the jokes and funnyness, comes off as a sociopathic monster. |
| Anonymous #1313877 2 months ago |
Chrysalis on the other hand is the only one who had a reason other than for teh evulz: She wanted to feed her people. Yeah she's a bitch, but she's also a magnificent bastard of the highest order, and seems like she could have some legitimate character development as far as redemtion is concerned. Discord and NMM are chaos and darkness incarnate: they can't be redeemed, because the part that is bad is more or less the whole of their character. She's evil, but their's more to her than that. She's the only one who could be redeemed. Now i am against her becoming a woobie who just wants to be loved, because that's against more or less the whole of her character. Sympathetic:yes, but cute and cuddly:no |
| Anonymous #1314131 2 months ago |
Yes. For me it's all about the visual design and she's frikkin' awesome! |
| Anonymous #1314329 2 months ago |
I´m with @Sindri . If the character development is catching and well displayed, I will like it. It can be difficult to accept their appereance, and of course I may frown at their ability for a while, but they can be loveable characters, official or fan-made.
That doesn't mean I will support them to jump from the fanwork to the show. For that, the author will need to be TERRIBLY GOOD. |
