Normally I don't like "Headcanon" but in this case it is closer to what Lauren Faust had planned so... ok.

^^She statet on her deviant that she wanted Luna and Celestia to be the only alicorns (though I'm not sure she used that term).

I was SO sure Cadance's "dark secret" was that she was Trixie in disguise, hoping to one-up Twilight by literally stealing her (Twilight's) brother away from her...or something.

@doomboy536

The "ailecorn" spelling comes from the original French "aile" (wing) and "corne" (horn), and was used to distinguish it from "alicorn", from the French "a li corne" (secured horn), which refers to the substance that makes up a unicorn's horn or the horn itself.

Actually the Changeling queen was voiced by Kathleen Barr, Trixie's voice actress. So... it was Trixie, sorta.

I think something is wrong with people who are obsessed about Alicorns being divine or are 'god creatures'. There's creepy religious subtext in all this.

Not to mention Celestia is not omniscient or omnipotent. Get over it.

Celestia is apparently immortal, or at least very long-lived. The problem isn't how powerful ailecorns are, but the ying-yang balance that was already present with the existing ones that is thrown off by the addition of a third, which is probably why Faust wanted only two.

Celestia and Luna can grant "alicornness" to highest ranking members of the society as a badge of office.

One of the things "Ying and Yang" represent is male and female. Balance is fine, but Ying and Yang don't quite do it all the way.
