The "ailecorn" spelling comes from the original French "aile" (wing) and "corne" (horn), and was used to distinguish it from "alicorn", from the French "a li corne" (secured horn), which refers to the substance that makes up a unicorn's horn or the horn itself. |

I think something is wrong with people who are obsessed about Alicorns being divine or are 'god creatures'. There's creepy religious subtext in all this.

Celestia is apparently immortal, or at least very long-lived. The problem isn't how powerful ailecorns are, but the ying-yang balance that was already present with the existing ones that is thrown off by the addition of a third, which is probably why Faust wanted only two. |
