I have seen a few accounts posting spam so it wouldn't help significantly. It would be more of a hindrance to anons than it would help against spammers. |

...Also, that's a good point. Most of the spam is just from named accounts that are arbitrary mixes of letters and numbers.
Anons aren't really the problem at all. We'd have to implement the Captcha on everyone. man that would be a pain |

Yes.
We already have Captchas to deter malicious image re-tagging. I have no idea why comments and image uploads don't require them as well, especially given the spam dumps we've been getting lately. |

Our website has been attacked. In a panic we build walls to keep the anonymous out so a few bad ones won't get through. This will lead to fewer anons commenting on the site which means fewer potential members to add to the community in the longer term. Slowly we may tear ourselves apart as we become more insular and non accepting of new members as they could be a possible troll. Build a resistance to trolls instead of building safeguards to hide from them. |

The only way to really fix this is for the mods to reproduce and create little mod children and those mod children will grow and have kids of their own and eventually we will have a whole big old family of mods on here ready to stop any spammers.
...basically I'm saying we need more mods. |

my guess is that the spam isnt directed at us, meaning no one is checking to see if it is going through. obsucation code wuld probubly stop it. i knwo how to do that, i would PM echo and offer my help if i wasnt so busy... |
