er, cultural differences, but in the U.S., vanity plates are custom letters/numbers on car license plates |

"Vanity plate" is the term for both things (custom license plates and logo plates before or after TV shows and movies)
And as someone once afflicted by an odd fear of vanity plates (the TV/movies kind), I can really appreciate this. |
