Seen this argument on TV Tropes a couple of times.
Plausible, especially since Chrys specifically baited Twi to shoot the wall Cadence was behind. Right after making her extremely angry, that is. |

It's just a good place to imprission somepony. It's an almost forgotten place, so nopony stumbles over the prisoners by accident and thanks to the solid rock nopony would hear their screams. Futuremore there seems to be only one almost impossible to reach exit than can be easily guarded.
And what would be the point in making Twi kill Cadence? If she wanted Cadence death she had more than enough time to kill her. |

I'm hoping we see more of the Lost Mines of Canterlot in Season 3. I can think of at least two plot points they could fill:
1) Celestia knows about them as well, and like the Changeling Queen, has used them to imprison her enemies. 2) The unicorns who dug for gems down there "delved too deep" and discovered a balrog down in the bottom levels. |
