Its funny how the relationship between twilight and spike as "brother/sister" or "mom/son" (although the last one is quite far fetched) was demolished down to boss/assistant in the season finale. |

^Anon1, You gave me a great idea for a fanfic. :O That's genius. I never really thought of it that way. |

@1303707
Its always been like that. Spike is Twilight's slave baby who does endless amounts of manual labor for her. Obviously no one really cares about Spike and is a victim of forced child labor. |

@bryan
Well, we heard from twilight herself that it was her brother that helped her in her younger years when she had no friends, not spike like how many people wrote in their fanfics. Also she called him her best friend. |

Well, Spike consider Twilight his family (Owl's Well That Ends Well and Dragon Quest). But according to Faust, he was raised by Celestia. |

Notice that all the flashbacks to Twilight and Shining, save for the leaving to Ponyville of course, were before she had her cutie mark. So Spike wasn't born yet. |

Notice how she only mentioned her brother as her first friend and the only one who helped her during her childhood. So that means that spike was quite absent for a lot of time |

@ candrew
Ah, I didn't think of that! Good observation! |
| candrew #1304420 2 months ago |
We also should take into account the time he was being raised by Celestia and learning how to do things. It wouldn't surprise me if Spike didn't become Twilight's assistant until he was nine or ten. |
| Littlecabbit #1304544 2 months ago |
...I don't think he's much older than nine or ten NOW ...well, I guess you could argue he seems like a 13 year old now... |
| candrew #1304558 2 months ago |
Eh, the differences in headcanon on ages rages especially hard on the subject of Spike. Personally I can't see him any younger then about four or five years younger then Twilight and friends but that's just how I interpret things. |

Not bad for being drawn in mspaint |

I actually think the introduction of Shining Armor hasn't ruined the theory that Twi and Spike are like bro and sis. It's just that their relationship is different. With Shining Armor, he was someone she could look up to, and play with. Spike was just a baby at the time. He was too young to really play with her. And probably spent a lot of time with Celestia (seeing as she taught him that "fire-magic sending thingy"). But Spike loves Twilight as family (confirmed in Owl's Well That Ends Well, and Dragon Quest) and shows that she returns his feelings.
Also, in the flashbacks, it shows Twi spending time with shining armor BEFORE she got her cutie mark. So most likely, after the exam, she spent more time with Spike and Celestia, they essentially become a second family to her. Celestia being a second mom, and Spike like a second brother. Though she still kept in touch with her parents and brother. |

Hey, guys, ever think maybe this shit you're talking about is simply PLOTHOLES? Because, you know, THE SEASON FINALE CREATED TONS OF THEM?
Honestly, this is all because Faust is gone. |
| Anonymous #1322206 2 months ago |
^ @1321249 You have a very good point. I mean, in past episodes, Twilight mentions that she never even had friends in canterlot. But, there may be the excuse that Twilight exaggerates and thus prone to massive errors of perception. Which would explain why she forgot to mention shining armor, and also forgot about Spike.
p.s. Lauren was working on the idea for the wedding. If anything, the only thing I heard that changed, was Cadance being an Alicorn. It doesn't sound like anything else was changed from Lauren's ideas. So I don't think Faust leaving caused ALL the plotholes. Just some of them. |
