A few things added, since I created this before the season finale. It would be nice if you could all participate.

>Best antagonist: No Flim & Flam, no Teenage Dragons, no Iron Will (though that would be debatable)
>Listing one-episode minor characters as background characters >Listing background characters as recurring characters >No Silver Spoon or Truffles as best foal (At this point, he has just as much S2 screentime and importance as Twist) >"Only mentioned" includes characters that are shown on screen and have speaking roles fail survey is fail To clarify, Background ponies should be restricted to just that; background ponies used as fillers for crowd scenes and such. Includes Cloudkicker, Berry Punch, Bonbon, Lyra, etc. Remove "recurring character" and replace with "minor character" so that it includes one-episode characters, as not many new characters have become recurring. This list should include just that; other new characters that have a larger role than just background/are unique, but may be limited to just one episode. Derpy can be included in both background and recurring characters, as she's used as a BG pony but has had her own speaking role and spotlight in an episode. If you must, have a separate list for one-off characters (Iron Will, the steroid pegasus, Thunderlane, Flim & Flam) and a list for actually recurring characters (Zecora, Cheerilee, Princess Luna. |

Actually, I would include Iron Will as "best antagonist". Though not being evil or malicious and actually being a decent minotaur, he served the role of the antagonist of the episode. He's just as much an antagonist as Diamond Tiara (who isn't evil, just a selfish spoiled brat) and Ahzuilotl (a fictional character within the show). |

>Best background character
>Discord Good lord there are so many things wrong with that. |
| AppleDash #1302664 2 months ago |
I'm pretty sure he just meant secondary "non-mane six" characters. I actually picked Discord for that category. |
| liquidXTC #1302690 2 months ago |
Well, Flim and Flam as antagonists didn't seem quite right, because they didn't do anything actually "evil" they just wanted to make money. Same with Iron Will, he even gave FS her money back without arguing.
And background is just background as opposed to mane 6. Silver Spoon is fixed and who the heck is Truffles? Only mentioned goes for Trixie (in Season 2, mind you) Daring Doo and the 3 tribe leader don't actually have speaking roles, because only their actors speak. |

Best song of season 2?
Hardest question EVER. |

An "antagonist" is not the same as a villain. A villain is an evil character (which I would argue Flim & Flam are, they tried to con Applejack's family out of their livelihood while Iron Will was just doing legit business ).
An "antagonist" is a character that opposes the protagonists. You can have a good, lawful character who is an "antagonist" by opposing the main character (like a good cop character opposing a rogue anti-hero). Flim & Flam, Iron Will and the teenage dragons are all antagonists by opposing the protagonists in the narrative structure of the episode's plot, but they don't have to be villains (i.e. evil) to be so. lrn2english |

@Tubifex
Actually Iron Will isn't even an antagonist. He was just a bit too assertive. And the teenage dragons were villains, they tried to kill baby phoenixes for the lulz and tied to beat Spike up for trying to stop them. |
| Tubifex #1302884 2 months ago |
It depends on how you see it. For Iron Will, it really is subjective since you could argue his purpose in the plot. I would personally put him as some kind of antagonist because of the ending where he appeared to oppose Fluttershy in demanding payment, but the situation was resolved peacefully and democratically.
I wouldn't quite put the teenage dragons as "evil". Evil deeds do not always mean evil intent. They killed the baby phoenixes for the lulz and beat up Spike because they were dragons, violent hormonal dragons. They probably thought nothing of killing lesser species simply because they believed dragons to be inherently superior, and tried to beat up Spike because that was the dragon way of resolving things, especially between other dragons. Cultural differences, not inherent evil. |

Had some real life issues, now I'm back. I'll change it to best villain, if it makes you happy. |
| Tubifex #1303638 2 months ago |
Well, no, what would make me happy is if either you kept it as Antagonist and added AT LEAST Flim & Flam and Garble (Teenage dragon leader, Iron Will's status as antagonist is debatable)
OR Change it to villain and restricted it to the three major villains (Discord and Chrysalis) I'm just trying to help make your survey better mann, just a little CC Also: -Stricter definitions of "Background character" and "Recurring character", possibly change "Recurring" to "Minor" so it includes one-episode characters. Discord is NOT a background character in any sense of the term. - BG character= ONLY used as BG filler - Minor character= have more prominant roles, can be recurring or one-episode -Add Silver Spoon to best foal -Tom, Daring Do and Smarty Pants don't belong in the "only mentioned" catagory, as all three were featured in episodes onscreen. Twice for Smarty Pants and Daring Do actually had lines and a prominant role in Dash's daydreams. |

So, I'll change it back...
With the background and minor characters... I thought about putting them in different categories, but then everyone would complain because they don't agree with the categoryzation. Silver Spoon already added a few hours ago, I just forgot her. The category is "only mentioned" OR "object" OR "fictional" Daring Do is a fictional character in-verse, Smarty Pants is an object. |
