It probably wasn't a direct reference, but it definitely looks a hell of a lot like the Dalaran shield. I'm not a huge WoW fan, but even I made that connection when I saw Canterlot in the distance after the BBBFF song.
Shields around cities may be nothing new, but the purpose for the shield, the color, and the sheen had near the exact properties of the Dalaran shield. |
