Let me offer another headcanon:
Luna woke up to a world gone avry. She fought her way through hordes of changelings to escape the castle and made it to the center of their territory and helped all the opressed creatures who the country used to belong to revolt and chase them out. She was back just in time to enjoy the wedding. |

This is a lame excuse,I mean,yeah Luna probably can be nocturnal,but if Celestia had to be awake during the whole fucking Galloping Gala receiving guests,I'm pretty sure Luna must have done SOMETHING during the wedding. Especially since well,Canterlot was in state of emergency. So Luna in the bathroom make sense to me. |

It's not important where she was - fandumb is going to make Luna into awesome heroine who saves the day and prove it's all Celestia's fault somehow. Like the letters from Return of Harmony - Luna sent them, not Celestia, who was at the time partaking in Discord's revelries, while under his thrall.
Meh, you could give this plot device a break for once, she's not even a proper character. |

I still blame Celestia, for trying to take on an invading army by herself instead of asking for help or planning ahead (the Elements of Harmony are still locked away instead of being easy for the Mane 6 to get ahold of? Really? Wasn't the first time enough?). |

In my headcannon, Luna was asleep someplace. She is the surprise superweapon backup plan in case Celestia is defeated. After all, wouldn't you want your back covered by one of the only other critters that can overpower you, if you were a Goddess?

@Anon357: Uhhh... She didn't take on an ARMY. She took on their Queen in solo combat. and judging from Chrysalis's reaction to the whole thing, she was a shocked by her victory as Celestia was.
As for the Elements of Harmony, they're the closest thing Equestria has to a Weapon of Mass Destruction and are probably considered an "IF ALL ELSE FAILS" weapon for use against invading forces since they are considered the most powerful magical weapon Equestria can muster. Not keeping the Elements of Harmony under tight lock and key is like the President carrying the Nuclear Launch button in his back trouser pocket. |

Pollodiablo, Luna as just a plot device and not a proper character? What do you define as a proper character? Was Gilda not a proper character? And as for plot device, that's a bit vague, and in the wedding episodes she's more of a brick joke than a plot device, as she was just in the background. |
