She and Luna made Equestria what it is today. That's what she's accomplished.
And that fight would have turned out differently if Luna wasn't asleep. |

Running a coutry for 1000+ years
defeated an unknown amount of threats in and out that time frame kicking off the events that lead to the series at great personal expense -other than that, not much else |

@036
Ok, let me rephrase: What has this pony ever actually accomplished in the last thousand years? |
| Anonymous #1300058 2 months ago |
STEALING MY HEART!!! |
| Anonymous #1300069 2 months ago |
She united the mane 6. If it weren't for her, Twilight would've never met her friends in Ponyville.
Give her a break, she's not as strong as she used to be, she doesn't have the power of friendship anymore... she lost because she underestimated Chrysalis, who attacked her with the power of love. |
| Impious #1300082 2 months ago |
A lot.
But I don't like how the writers keep portraying her as ridiculously incompetent. Come on, guys, throw the poor mare a bone. She works so hard, and that had to have been humiliating for her. |
| Anonymous #1300083 2 months ago |
Sealed Discord (with Luna)
Sealed Nightmare Moon Raised the sun and moon for 1000 years, now just the sun again. Though most of those are pretty ancient and she didn't do well in the modern period, perhaps she's past her prime? More recently, she did dispel Twilight's "Want it, Need it" spell. |
| Bolan #1300086 2 months ago |
Molestia's done more for ponies than this freeloader. |
| Anonymous #1300095 2 months ago |
Done something which Unicorns could do.
Used the Elements of Harmony against certain threats just as anypony could have done. And stopped a want it/need it spell. She also lived a very long time. |
| Anonymous #1300099 2 months ago |
In the last one thousand years, Celestia has ruled Equestria. The fact that she lost to the power of love doesn't mean she's weak or useless. Remember that friendship took cured Luna, sealed Discord, and destroyed Windigos. This episode showed that love is EVEN MORE powerful than that. |
| NightJack #1300106 2 months ago |
She had to manage the job of two for a thousand years, both her's and Luna's, before Luna's return, she's not going to be as strong as she was so give her a brake. |
| Anonymous #1300112 2 months ago |
@#1300083
Most of those were using the Elements of Harmony. They aren't exactly indicative of her personal power. |
| dudemang #1300116 2 months ago |
Lesse...
This is also a really dumb troll. Celestia being defeated once in a magical duel somehow just completely invalidates her character? |
| NightJack #1300127 2 months ago |
Also what Anon099 said. |
| Glord #1300132 2 months ago |
What anon 069 said.
Chrysalis was hyped up on the power of love that she leeched off Shining Armor. |
| LorenzoP #1300140 2 months ago |
More than you could ever acomplish in that pathetic life of yours OP. |
| Impious #1300191 2 months ago |
But I still think, deep down, the reason she was so easily defeated was because she doesn't possess the power of love herself, in any amount. Damn sad if you ask me. You can move the damn sun, sure, but if the basis of magic is friendship, and you don't actually have any real friends, yeah, you're going to lose that magical duel with the succubus hopped up on the power of love, which is the extreme form of friendship and therefore superior magic. She never had a chance. |

You try leading a peaceful kingdom of thousands and thousands of subjects for a thousand years, see how you do, then come back to me. |
| Anonymous #1300222 2 months ago |
Saved the world from both Discord (with Luna's help) and Nightmare Moon (on her own)
Sun and moon, then sun Gave Granny Smiths parents the land they needed to make their farm, and thus help found Ponyville Probably handles the process of making laws and helps enforce them by dispatching solders or sending Twilight and her friends(Who BTW, have got to be officially some sort of Special Forces group by now)... cause you know- she's the POLITICAL LEADER- and they DO THAT. Helped Twilight get started, both as a student and as a way to start the series Helped Fillydelfia from a problem (off camera) Fixed Twilight's "Want it need it" spell mishap Has the ability to oversee marrages, apparently And possibly several other things she's done in several centuries that we don't know about. |
| Anonymous #1300254 2 months ago |
@#1300112
Is her personal power a factor? The question is what Celestia has accomplished; it doesn't really matter if someone else could have done it, what matters is that Celestia was the one to do it. Not just anyone can use the Elements of Harmony (Discord showed us that) and raising the sun and moon still appears to be pretty big magic. Yes, unicorns can control the sun, but the fact remains that Celestia is currently the one doing it. It's fine that she's not omnipotent, and probably not the most powerful pony like everyone assumes, but she still does accomplish things. I suppose everyone just wants her to get personally involved more often? Eh, would kinda kill most of the suspense and end with cries of "Deus ex Machina" or something. Celestia's not the main character, guys. |
| Dr_Action #1300268 2 months ago |
seems like she can only raise the sun
couldn't stop her sister, Discord or Chrysalis |
| Impious #1300294 2 months ago |
But you have to agree she should get more limelight, though, right? She doesn't get nearly enough respect, and that's because she rarely gets to do anything. Face it, as wonderful as she is she's little more than a plot device. I hope Season 3 changes that. God knows Celestia deserves it. |
| dudemang #1300325 2 months ago |
I have to agree with Impious. It'd be nice if there were an episode where Celestia recounts an old lesson she learned in her youth, and have that be the episode moral. |
| Anonymous #1300432 2 months ago |
Making OP a retard. |
| d715 #1300474 2 months ago |
Celestia isn't a head to head fighter, she gets shit done threw subtle planning
also I'm pretty sure canon Alicorns arn't the all power gods fandom thinks they are. and what Imprious said, Celestia needs her own episode |

| Anonymous #1300890 2 months ago |
Eh well she apparently co discovered the elements of harmony lying around somewhere and then staged a successful coup. So points for stealing the reigns of power and and being a despot for 1000 years without anyone ousting her. |
| Anonymous #1300937 2 months ago |
She's ruled for over a thousand years. Who knows what she has had to deal with? It's amazing she can still smile and doesn't have a 1,000-yard stare. |
| Anonymous #1300954 2 months ago |
If anything her lack of personal power makes her rule that more impressive. She is clearly quite the manipulator to the point that she has made up a religion with herself as the god and instilled that into the day to day life of her citizens. |
| MonkeyKing #1301681 2 months ago |
Considering everything seems to have worked out, she's pretty good at delegating. |
| Anonymous #1302271 2 months ago |
Equestria not descended into civil war between three races?
You're welcome. |
| Anonymous #1302337 2 months ago |
^I think they worked that stuff out before Celestia showed up. You know during that whole everybody freezes to death because we're all being jerks to the other races incident. |
| Anonymous #1303003 2 months ago |
Most misunderstood pony. *Sigh*
Poor princess. I knew she was going to get beat from the beginning. But you know what was epic? THE FACT THAT SHE ACTUALLY TRIED. Isn't that enough for fucking once? |
| Ferrotter #1303231 2 months ago |
Defeating Discord, Defeating Nightmare Moon, Defeating Rainboomed Twilight (without hurting her), Defeating Fillydelphia's plague of parasprites (presumably), Helping the Mane Six defeat discord again. Oh, and raising the sun every day, and the sun AND moon for a thousand years.
Plus inspiring Joseco's Ask Princess Molestia blog. O:-) |
| Anonymous #1304165 2 months ago |
Well.
She, alongside Luna sealed Discord away. Sealed Nightmare Moon on the moon for 1000 years. Stopped Ponyville from descending into chaos in Lesson Zero. Raising the f*cking sun. That's one big freaking astral body. Momentarily overpowering Chrysalis before Shining Armour and Cadence's love for each other gave the queen the strength to defeat her. Need more be said? |
| Anonymous #1305564 2 months ago |
She's a goddess, in the old sense. She's not all powerful, she is primarily good, but might be led astray, and is on the whole beneficial.
Look at the Norse, Greek, Roman and even Hindu mythology. While much more powerful than the average person, they still have faults and are rulers in a world they did not create. Also, I go along with the headcannon that her parents, the previous rulers of Equestria, are dead, and out of reverence for them, she calls herself a princess, not a queen. |

Raising the Sun and for a thousand years, the moon.
Getting the Element wielders to realize their destinies. Banishing a destructive older sister and half way with defeating and evil chaos spirit |
| Anonymous #1305895 2 months ago |
You know, I don't really see why people give her credit for raising the sun. Regular unicorns managed the feat for presumably the whole history of the planet until Celestia and Luna came along.
I suppose she should get credit for the propaganda campaign that made raising the sun such a big deal. Though it was that same propaganda campaign that drove Luna crazy which is either a total screw up or a rather good play for power that leveraged her knowledge of her sister's physiological instability. It could go either way. |
| TheLoneLampman #1319625 2 months ago |
First, she can move the sun and moon by herself. It took the combined magic of many many unicorns to match that feat.
Second, she knew NMM was returning, and knew how to stop her. She may not have known about the changelings, but she did know that Canterlot was under threat. We are never told how she knows or finds out about things. She plays it cool with the info and acts accordingly. Third, how great of a show would it be if everytime something went wrong, Celestia would step in, magic up shit, then go away? "Waaaah! Oh wait, don't worry, Celestia will fix it!" It's also worth noting that we've seen a lot of monsterous threats to Equestria in such a short time span. Before arrival of the mane 6, how do you think such threats were dealt with? |
