Guys, Napoleon destroyed democracy and was a power hungry asshole that tried to take over the world under his hegemonic rule.
Why is everyone loving on Napoleon? I agree he's a good military strategist, but hey, Stalin was really good at Soviet political backstabbing--I admire their skills, but I still despise their ethics. |

Napoleon was a egomaniac for sure, but he basically ushered in the age of the Nation-State and the concept of nationalities by breaking the power of the European monarchies and religious authority. Perhaps without him Europe would be more like the Arab-states today with Christian Republics.
TL;DR It is impossible to try to sum up one person's contribution as 100% EVIL or GOOD. |

Also Hitler was way less evil than a lot of his subordinates. Mao and Stalin can stay, I guess. Genghis... was the most successful man in human history by almost every imaginable measure, so as soon as someone does better than him, he can start to be judged. |
