The show needs a recurring villain. Not for every episode, mind you, but some mildly powerful spiteful entity that shows up every now and then to stir up trouble. Maybe a sprite or something. |

I actually think the villains like this will probably be relegated to season finales. I like to think the Discord eps were really the 'end' of the first season, and the season really began with Lesson Zero -- NMM was just there for the premiere, to quickly show what the show was all about and how different it was form the previous few MLP incarnations. I expect forthcoming seasons to open quite normally then end with things like this.

Whatever Discord, She Stopped the mane 6 from getting to the Elements and Defeated Celestia with The Power of Love she had fed off of. Her only weakness though was that same Power of Love. Didn't help that Cadence's Power was solely just that Generating Love. |

^^^ Discord and Chrysalis are totally different villain types. Discord isn't even supposed to be evil, he's just a giant troll who causes chaos for the lulz. Chrysalis, on the other hand, clearly enjoys sucking the love out of people, feeding upon it, and then commanding her underlings to do the same. That's classic evil. Apples to oranges. |

I agree, these last two villains were the best. But, they'll have to come up with an even better one for the S3 finale.
My choice: Some kind of human tyrant/monstrosity/army/etc. Sealed away for ages, now pissed as hell and ripping apart anything standing between them and revenge/power/a new home/old "modern" technology (assuming there's a bit of nuclear apocalypse in the overall world history). Humans should only be here if they're the pony's version of Grays and Pinkie goes hunting for them. Anyway Season 2 seems to be more like setting up villains for Season 3, Windigos are still out there waiting, Chrysalis blasted off again, and Discord is still in stone |

Chrys could totally be a recurring villain. She was flung out of the city, but not imprisoned or injured. She can become anypony, and feeds on the same magic of love and friendship that powers the heroes. And best of all, she's learned from her mistakes. |

Keep it away! *The other changelings flee for their lives* No, my babies, come back and help your queen! *She collapses, powerless, curling up in a ball and whispering in fear as she waits for the horrible creature to leave* So much hate, so much hate. Twilight: Huh? Why didn't we think of that in the first place? *Celestia shoos Blueblood away simply because she feels sorry for the starving queen* Celestia: I will make it so you never have to see him again, if you promise to leave Equestria and never return. Or... *Gestures to the door she sent Blueblood through* Chrys: I give, I give! You are a most generous ruler! *Chrysalis flees after the other changelings* There's got to be easier prey somewhere! @191: Heh, funny. However Power of Love didn't blasted changelings away but simply gave Shining armor energy to perform his shield/repelling spell after his "mana" was drained by the Queen. And that's my headcannon~ |

Keep in mind, Impious, that Chrysalis and co. weren't completely disposed of. They can definitely do a story arc-ish thing that leads up to the changelings being the big bad in the season 3 finale. Maybe even reviving the idea of Tirek from Midnight castle |
