Well her over all behavior seems in line with how her species needs to feed...

Chrysalis: FEED

*Followed by the screams of ponies as her minions fly out the door.*

Nah, pretty sure she was evil.

At the expense of everyone else. At that point, I think it matters little.

she didn't show any good characteristics or made any effort to show that she was good hearted

When a woman marries a man she doesn't love solely to support her thousands of illegitamate children, society tends to frown upon it.

Anyway, it seems unlikely that the changelings live solely off of love energy. They had to have eaten something before they came to Canterlot. They were probably just trying to augment their power.

I can see it being just business if the Changers couldn't eat anything else, but the way she reveled in the suffering she caused makes me dislike her either way.

...*gasp* you mean exactly what she said
but they aren't mutually exclusive even though I hate the word evil, she was both a threat to Equestria and looking out for her children

@Flamma_Man
That's how they eat. What are they going to do, starve?

How does telling your children they can eat constitute an evil act in and of itself?

Yes, they probably had other sources of love they had been feeding on. These may have eventually run low.

Things don't immediately die after food runs out and they probably had enough to go look for more.

It's the difference between mindlessly devouring, and trying to find a balance with your needs... the difference between being a parasite, and a symbiote. She CHOOSES to devour until nothing is left, that makes her evil.

And stated, she feeds on emotions, not just love. It's just that Equestria was so rich in the stuff they went for that first. Once the ponies were emotionally drained (assuming it didn't kill them,) they would have probably switched to fear.
Assuming they weren't chug a lugging that, too....

When a predatory species enters an area en masse, its probably due to some kind of famine in their homeland

@1297498 Hey, those children were completely legitimate. They're from her previous husbands, whom she ate after consummating the marriage.

She didn't make even a token attempt to have them feed without hurting the ponies, and she was shown to be able to feed off of Shining Armor without hurting him. Attacking the ponies like that was unnecessary. At worst, they had to disorient the donor for a short period of time.

@Sjogre

What predator cares about how their prey feels? Once everypony realized what was happening they probably had to secure them for use in feeding. Can't feed on something which already ran away after all...

So as far as can be seen they were a species behaving as can be expected from their feeding habits and going through standard feeding behaviors.

Eh, she could've been like Ganon, in Ocarina of time he seemed straight up evil, in Wind Waker, he explained why he did the things he did, the land they came from looked like a desolate, dying land, much like Garudo valley.

TL;DR, she's a pony Ganondorf

@1297825 Do you terrorize cows before you slaughter them? Besides, she was feeding painlessly, or close to painlessly, and got enough of a meal from it to fight Celestia. If she had just wanted sustenance, she could negotiated for it.

The attack was about power, not food.

Of course she's evil.

If she wasn't evil (or rather, just smarter), she would have had her minions commit random acts of kindness and been nice to everypony.
That's a good way to "farm" love from the mostly good-natured ponies in Equestria.

If a flock of mosquitos fly at you trying to suck you dry, you're not going to give a rats ass about if their "Evil" or not.
