People think the "Twinkle in the sky" bit is mainly an anime gag, but actually it's been used in a few American cartoons to. (Even before Poke'mon & SSB popularized it.)
I remember seeing it in the Super Mario Super Show, (Episode "Stars in their Eyes") the original Ninja Turtles cartoon, (a few episodes in the last season shown on the first DVD release) and even in Opus the penguin's "A Wish for Wings That Work." So yeah, it predates Poke'mon, but Poke'mon helped popularize it. |
