I'm going to keep saying this until it's general consensus.
Friendship is Magic, so Love is Power. Celestia has neither. How many friends does she have? Is she in love? How often do you see her together with Luna? Of course the demonic succubus feeding off of the guy's love for his fiance kicked her ass. Celestia is powerless because no one loves her, because, of course, Love is Power. The fridge horror is frigid. |

maybe luna and celestia exert so much energy moving the sun and moon that when they go to sleep they cant wake up till dawn/sunset? no i dont know how celestia did both for 1000 years by herself :/ |

Shining Armor, brainwashed and drained maintened a giant force shield around the entire city, stopping an entire army of changelings from entering.
Celestia shoot an ray of energy that made a hadouken look epic. |

...Well, she raises the Sun, raised the Moon during her sister's banishment...Oh, actually banished Nightmare Moon in the first place, was capital in defeating Discord, TWICE.
Even the changeling queen was surprised she won. Celestia's defeat is caused solely by the fact the changeling queen was powered by Love between ponies. Common, that's like being powered by pony breathing or something. Heck , if anything, it's surprising she held for that long ! |
