She ruins the divine alicorn duality we've been used to since day one, and since she was just a unicorn at the time Faust left the project, it's unlikely that her status will get any explanation in the show. This is problematic from a world-building standpoint.
Having said that, I do have faith in the team, so I'm more than willing to watch the episode before I draw any conclusions. I think other people feel the same, and as the initial "LOLWUT" reaction fades, we're now seeing more art of Cadence. My prediction: The episode will be great but Cadence being an alicorn will still be an unresolved problem. |

I think the fact she's an alicorn will be explained by this "dark secret" Twilight is supposed to uncover. Maybe she isn't even an alicorn, or something like that.
I really hope I'm right, because then it means they took things in a totally different direction than one would expect for a show like this. |
