Long story comment:
There are several major IRS processing centers in the country, each with their own quirks. A few of them call the Internal Revenue Manual (the IRS employee's complete manual on how to do everything) the IRM (pronounced erm, like sperm without the "sp"), while here in Kansas City we call it the I.R.M. (eye are em). So whenever a training video is made at another site, we wind up going, "WTF, Erm?" for a short time inversley proportionate to the length of time we have been here. When I told the class of new Contact Representatives this, we determined to make our own local strange thing just to confuse other sites. So we targeted the 14-digit number stamped on every document and associated with every action taken. This is why now every time I see these comics, I think of the Document Locator Number, and the terrible rap song made in 1987 to teach it. |
