Twilight, when you say “random background pony whose existence has no relevance to the plot and was only given spoken lines as fanservice”, I hear “MOTHERFUCKING MASCOT OF THE ENTIRE BRONY COMMUNITY”!! Derpy is a BIG FUCKING DEAL to us for a large variety of reasons, and her getting censored was actually just a powder keg for a MUCH larger issue concerning the relationship between the corporation and the customers |

No. Twenty seconds isn't enough. She had a character (you don't need to speak to have a character) and she was relevant to the plot in the Last Roundup.
But you are missing the point. If it was just any background pony that no one was invested in it wouldn't have mattered, but Derpy was a shout out to the fandom and a symbol for the connection we had built with the creators of the show. Dismissing it as "just another background pony" is just, yeah. Missing the point. |

^ Until Last Roundup she had no plot significance, nor canon character. Her only actions are dropping piano on Twilight and wear a bag on her head. Being klutzy\stupid\whatever isn't enough to have a personality. We can say that every background pony have canon personality.
Let's get it straight. 1. Fans become obsessed with random background pony. 2. Authors acknowledge their obsession in Last Roundup. 3. Because she have every single mentally challenge stereotype imaginable someone create a crapstorm, forcing authors to censor her. 4. Fans are not pleased now. All this doesn't change the fact, that in the end Derpy is random background pony with funny face. |

Yeah, villain was pretty cool. I wish other of mane 6 saw more action. For example Rainbow Dash barely had any lines at all. Also Luna need more screentime. But for a wedding episode it was good. |
