While I can't say I'm bored of ponies, since I still watch every new episode when they come out, I haven't been watching them 100 times a piece like I did in season 1.

I'm not entirely bored with it, but...

I'm sorry, but season 2 just hasn't been as interesting or fun as season 1 overall. I also no longer feel the need to watch every new episode as soon as it comes out.

I find it amusing, that OP use a shot from season 2 to praise season 1 and a shot from season 1 to belittle season 2.
I used "belittle" in a completely logical sentence! Go me!

It's true. Season 1 was more magical than Season 2, getting to know that new world, the characters.

Dem Friday nights on /co/ discussing the new episode, good times.

It's lost some of its steam but season 2 I think has A slightly different feel than season 1. Season 1 was the studio testing new ground and figuring things out while season two has them with stronger footing making them more willing to experiment.

Yeah... more willing to experiment...

Ya know, in Season 1, when they used a cliche plot, they at least added a twist to it.

In Season 2, about the only "twist" they do, is introduce a character that has a different body type or isn't a pony.

I liked season 2 much more than season 1.
And since season 1 was already awesome, season 2 is megawesome.

I disagree. Both seasons had "weak" episodes.

Season 1: Feeling Pinkie Keen, Dragonshy, A Bird in the Hoof

Season 2: The Cutie Pox, The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well, MMMystery on the Friendship Express

Both seasons had strong episodes too *too many to list*

I would say that the worst of Season 2 was worse than the worst of Season 1, BUT the best of Season 2 was better than the best of Season 1.

Of course, EVERYTHING I just said is just my own personal opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

Even I'm sometimes not amused by MLP sometimes... even annoyed by it because it spreads. My admiration for this show is starting to end because the show is starting get a little... boring. :/ The only thing I ever liked about the show anyway was Rainbow Dash.

I can feel this. I'm still a fan and am still a brony of sorts.

But I feel more like AppleDash:

I still get excited about seeing the spread of the fandom and it's appearances in the mainstream along with neat art and fun tumblrs. But I don't watch the episodes as often. And I'm more willing to spend my free time on other things.

I'll still buy episodes as they come out on DVD to support the show without fail, however. Shows need this kind of innocence, quality, and ...whatever it is that FiM has. Cartoons or not. I want to support that.

It's simply a change. I think most people who are "leaving" aren't bailing on the show. The fandom (or simply being as active in it,) maybe. But not the show.

I feel just like Verbose said, I've lost some of the interest for the show, but I still watch every episode as they come out... I think this is due to the horrible attitude of the New Bronies. <.<

One of the biggest flaws of Season 2 is that it really, painfully, obviously shows off the fact that every episode has a different writer, each with their own interpretations of how the characters should behave. Note that all the "one of the mane six goes batshit insane" episodes are written by the same person, for example. And the episode with the dragon migration completely reversed the levels of affection Spike and Rarity have for one another. We've also seen that some writers like to think of Twilight as being this frantic perfectionist OCD sufferer while others simply portray her as kinda geeky, logical and well-organized.

Oh, and let's not forget the occassional self-contradicting lessons and karma houdinis, like in the school paper episode.

Anon 898 speaks the truth.

I do have to admit that I'm not as obssessed about ponies anymore, but I still enjoy the new content and new episodes for what they're worth.

It certainly doesn't feel as cool as watching the fandom grow during Season 1.

They did suffer some emotional abuse there towards the end, but I still felt it would have been more fitting if those emberassing photos ended up getting published.
Which brings me to my next point, I think we've all long forgotten that we're watching a kids show. Well-written as it is, our MLP is never going to be tantamount to Hemmingway. Cut 'em some slack.

But that's the thing--this show was, Word of Faust here, NEVER just for children. And it became so popular because it was written far more intelligently than pretty much EVERY other cartoon currently on TV and didn't insult childrens' intelligence or patronize them or give mixed messages.

Meh, this is happens in every new fandom.

You can't remain super excited about something forever, you can still like it, but the level of enthusiasm for something brand new simply can't be maintained forever. I think another fandom I could compare it to for me is Halo (also having it's own notable hatdom). The whole "season 2 isn't as good as seasons 1!" stuff reminds me SO much of the "halo 2 isn't near s good as halo 1!" stuff (though I suspect such things are common to any fandom) Indeed I see allot of similiar wording like "Halo 2 didn't have the wonder/magic/story/whatever of Halo 1"

Well of course it didn't cause it wasn't a brand new world you knew nothing about, but Halo 2 was still a good game that expanded on that world. MLP S2 was still a good show that expanded on the world, but obviously could never quite match the rapid onset nostalgia of the first due to not being brand spanking new. After Halo 2 of course every new game/product was derided as "ruining" Halo or being boring; even as people still kept buying them, playing them to death, and spewing forth reams of fan works...

I have no doubt that some hipsters (it's popular now it sucks) will leave and that a fair number of hangers on mainly around because it's trendy will bail as well, but allot of people will still be around. It won't be as ridiculous as the first year or two, but you CAN like something while having other interests and not obsessing over it. There's nothing wrong with tempering enthusiasm and a shift to a more low key fandom isn't some sign of eminent death, it's a sign of maturation.

Frankly losing some of the more crazed fans, and having a more moderate and reasoned view of the show (it's good, but it's no second coming) will likely only improve the fandom and it's image. The aggressive fanaticism has frankly don't us no favors and is the primary reason I do not even mention watching the show outside of dedicated MLP communities. As simply bringing it up, even if it occurs naturally and makes sense in the context of a conversation now carries a stigma.

So yeah I for one welcome our smaller and hopefully quieter fandom.

To the vast majority of the fandom, the new episodes are all like bonanzas. The select few who over analyze and criticize and make a huge fuss about it are a very, very small minority. I love how some people think the smaller segments of this fandom = the whole deal. It doesn't work that way.
