Yes, I realize there is a typo on Clover's title, I only realized it when I was tagging and didn't think it was worth fixing it.
And if you don't like the botton line, just ignore it, it is meant to be more like a punchline anyway. |

No one ever said Historical!Clover was male. |
| Dumb_Rock #1278099 2 months ago |
We don't even know if Clover was a mare or stallion. (I for one think he was male) |

Honestly, "the Cleaver" is an infinitely better title, especially seeing that that time period didn't have the comfortable peace of the present. |

@101 wins this thread. |

@441: As I said, it is a punchline, not meant to be taken serious.
And to me, all the six but Hurricane are females, and only for two reasons: 1- His full name would be "Hurricane Blitz", it sound far more badass than "Hurricane Dash"; 2- I ship him with Pansy, and I kinda felt there was no need to add yet another lesbian ship if I could avoid it. |

In my headcannon the play was a very loose adaptation of (possibly?) real events and Clover never existed.
Twilight personally requested that line about Starswirl be added because she's a Starswirl fangirl. |

Dumb_Rock, I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying if you really believe that, Dumb is putting it mildly. In Shakesphere and kabuki, when an actor plays a opposite gender, something has to let the audience know that the dude is playing a chick, even if it was already known coming in, you need to refer with appropiate mannerisms, costume and pronouns. No in-universe reference means character is same sex as player, and nothing in the play alluded to Clover being male. |

But Pansy calls Hurricane "she" a number of times. |

The Cleaver is a fucking badass name.
Let's say this is Clover the Clever's rule 63's nickname. |
| Everypony #1278255 2 months ago |
Clover the Clever is just a sorceress |
| Dumb_Rock #1278341 2 months ago |
@Anon
Well that's something new to me, but I don't think the writers were thinking of that when making the episode's script. I only think of Clover as a male because there is a male G2 pony with a similar name, so it could be a reference (then again, Staswirl's toy is a girl) and, much like Veya, I ship Clover with somepony (Princess Platinum) and I don't feel like adding another lesbian ship. |

Yeah....we're worthless. They only keep us stallions around for copulation. |
| Lium #1278398 2 months ago |
Clover the Cleaver's the local butcher. |
| Glord #1278431 2 months ago |
Why has no one inquired the historical genders of the characters in the play to those who work on the show? |
| Anonymous #1278449 2 months ago |
Big Mac? Worthless? I think the Character might take issue with that. |
| Veya #1278477 2 months ago |
@449: As much as a great stallion as Big Mac is, he never did anything of great impact, to mark Equestria's story, if he didn't exist things would be the same in the great scheme of things.
And for the last time, the botton line is more like a joke than anything else, a punchline, just plain ignore it. |
| Anonymous #1278781 2 months ago |
Then you're kinda of a fucking idiot then, huh? This is why haedcanon's can go fuck themselves. |
| Vree #1279155 2 months ago |
That's a nice alternative to the Starswirl was a mare with a beard spell fanon. |
| Anonymous #1280632 2 months ago |
If that were true why would Luna have recognized Twi's costume on Nightmare Night? |
| Veya #1280760 2 months ago |
@781:
@632: Part of the fandom argue that Luna never meet Star Swirl, but merelly read about him like Twilight did, the situation could be compared to two fans of some obscure anime, with one recognizing the accuracy in the other's cosplay. (Yay for Friendship is Witchcraft!) |
