Normally, I hate Black!Twilight, but that's because most artists who do it either have no concept of balance and avoiding clashing hues, or they do a "White" facial structure and simply make the skin dark (which often leads to point #1), plus the whole "forced diversity" thing that I'd rather not get into right now. Black people (and other peoples who aren't from Europe & the Middle East) have noticeably different skeletal structures than, say, the very white Tara Strong. That's a fact, and an artist who actually gives a shit would know to incorporate that.
THIS DRAWING, on the other hand, is an example of a darker-skinned Twi done right. In fact, this might be the best dark!Twi I've ever seen. Hell, it's a good Humanization, period. The face is gorgeous, the colours aren't garish and complement well. The shading is great. It doesn't look like Tara at all, but who cares? |

It's not like Keith David played Apollo, Okkoto in Princess Mononoke or Tombstone in Spiderman. That's just one actor, there is also Tara of course as Omi in Xiaolin Showdown or Magik, a Russian. Or Robin Atkin Downes as Hiro Kasai in Killer7. And what about ALL the actors that had to work in the Assassin's Creed games, where they had to prononce an almost perfect italian. Ethnicity has nothing to do with the skill of a VA. If one is good enough, you can do almost any character, as long as it is well interpreted. |
