I might be finished with this for now. The quality of writing is great, as I've come to expect from Neckbeard, but I disagree with the level of intelligence portrayed, e.g. long-term memory and ability to grasp the concept of time. |

People keep asking this, so here goes.
Headcannon: Fluffy Ponies go into season once a year, later winter through to spring. Rarely a Fluffy Mare will enter Estruss during Autumn, but this is incredibly rare. Fluffy Ponies can live for up to Ten Years, but the average is anywhere from five to seven years. Fluffy Ponies exist in a Legally Grey Area. They're not Animals, being that they can communicate and are self aware, but not Human Beings either. There is a great political and religious debate raging, on a global and local scale, over the exact nature of the Fluffy Pony. Currently the division is between the staunchly religious claiming Fluffy Ponies are 'abominations against the Gods', powerful companies seeking to ensure they can keep Fluffy Ponies as 'non-entities' to ensure a steady supply of test subjects, wealthy individuals who are pursuing their own agendas, Special Interest Groups, Humanists who see Fluffy Ponies as the first step towards abandoning the 'outdated and backwards views of the religious fundamentalists' and environmental groups who are insisting mankind take up the mantle of protector of this new species they created. Fluffy Ponies are no more or less resilient than a Dog or Cat of similar size, but they posses next to no natural defences. A well fed Fluffy Pony can produce half it's body-mass in waste per day. A Female Fluffy can take anywhere from two to four weeks to give birth, depending upon the nature of the Foals. A predominantly Earth Pony 'litter' will come at about two weeks, a predominately Pegasus Pony 'littler' at three, and a predominantly Unicorn Pony 'litter' at four weeks. Fluffy Pony Foals are completely dependant upon their mother's milk (or a near substitute) for the first week, but can then be bottle fed pasteurized milk afterwards until they can start to eat Solid Food at three weeks of age. Fluffy Ponies have a 'childhood' of six to eight months, becoming fertile relatively quickly in life. A Fluffy Pony Stallion stands about a foot tall, not including Fluff, and a Fluffy Pony Mare just a few inches shorter. If a Fluffy Pony is not regularly clipped or otherwise have it's fluff trimmed, they can have a Fluffy Coat up to two inches thick on their back and sides. |

The problem lies in the personal definitions of self aware.
To me, Self-Aware is to be able to differentiate yourself from your surroundings, be they animal, mineral, vegetable or abstract. And that's the greatest hurdle of the legal arguments. Everyone has a different interpretation of 'self aware'. |

Every time this story series seems to get good, it turns out to be a big let down. According to fluffy canon, Whiskey and Gin should've mounted Bourbon and blown their loads. That they didn't, that fluffies somehow magically have the strength of will to resist their animal instincts despite being dumb as a board, is clearly a case of not doing the research. Or just ignoring canon to make fluffies exhibit traits they'd never normally have, like self restraint. Even a lot of people don't have that, so why the hell would fluffies?
Suffice it to say, I am disappoint. |

@ Anon 848, Yeah, but at the same point if their Fluff was that long, their Fluff would actually be longer than their legs...as it stands, with a foot of height, and legs about two to three inches long, they're pretty much looking like mobile hairballs from the side at full Fluffy length. |

@ Anon 372. Part of that is they're not completely sexually matured yet, with only Vodka being over the 6-8 month 'childhood' period, and everyone else being around 4-6 months of age.
They know what the No-no's are. They know they feel good. They don't quite know what the other sex is for yet. They WILL learn, however. It might happen before Spring, it might not, but it's not going to pop up in the story as 'lolsecks' just because. That said, now Gin and Whiskey have that scent in their little heads. What they do with that, and what their instincts make them do, is going to be interesting to see. |

Mmm, that is true.
When I started out on this story, I had a decision to make. I could either cleave closely to the existing 'facts' and try to make a story from that, or I could build off those facts as 'internet bullshit' that the Owner has to deal with as he struggles with caring for his Fluffies. I chose the second option because it gave me more opportunities for the Story to have more depth and range. I do feel I have sometimes given the Fluffies, especially Vodka, more intelligence than normal, but I've also tried to make that intelligence a rather limited field. Vodka has excellent 'long term' memory (about two weeks before he forgets something) but can't remember anything over two hours ago. Gin and Whiskey are supreme morons. They barely remember anything from the day before, let alone what happened last week, although they do have the occasional flashback to a particularly vivid memory every now and again. Rum is sweet and able to make interesting leaps of thoughts, but she's also the poster-child for Fluffy ADD. Bourbon has been severely traumatized and has extreme phobias about being left alone. |

You don't have to call the more prevalent memes about fluffy ponies as 'internet bullshit' (since this is the internet). You can just claim that your fluffy ponies are some lab-created improved specimens without the retard that plagues the rest of fluffy pony kind.
But then again, I don't read these kind of stories, so it doesn't matter. Go on as normal. |

By 'Internet Bullshit' I mean Trolls posting incorrect facts. In this 'story', Fluffy Ponies are not horrifically painful and humiliating Deaths waiting for some sadistic Human to look at them funny.
A far more 'cannon' look at the Fluffy Pony is available in the grimdark_fluffies story, where the Fluffies mature quickly and more often than not live short, horrible lives. Unfortunately, again, had to make the Fluffies a bit smarter to make it a decent story, rather than just a 'trollololol every fluffy dies' snuff fic. |

Neckbeard, these stories of yours make me smile. Most of the fluffy stuff I see is "LOL let's brutally kill as many fluffies as we can." I believe the fluffies are not meant to be like the yukkuri of Touhou: dumb beasts that need to be tortured and killed and have a miserable life. |
