Hmmm...two seasons now and these two characters haven't crossed words yet.
Let's see...Big Mac interacted with: Twilight = Lesson Zero Rainbow = Super Speedy Cider Pinkie = It's About Time Applejack = Duh! Rarity is the other one who he hasn't talked or anything,but the RariMac shippers aren't as obnoxious as the hardcore Fluttermacs,which make be believe that Fluttermac is starting to become an overrated pairing(if they aren't already) even though they have next to nada to support them. |

Well like 90% of the ships are about background characters that stand next to each other for like 1 scene:
Have Vinyl and Octavia ever met? BonBon and Lyra could be friends or relatives for all we know? The Doc & Derpy weren't shown near each other until Heart&Hooves Days way after that ship started. Do I hate those ships, not at all. And if I do hate one I keep it to myself and let them be. |

The thing is (and you've said it yourself): They are background characters.Nobody is going to complain about those because simply because of that fact.All the interactions,which are created by the fans,are mostly based of the little screentime they get and when that happens is mostly a collective agreement all over. Fluttershy is a main character.A main character with character development (or lack of in certain areas).Her personality has been established since the show was in production. Then some fans suddenly put her in a romantic relationship with a secondary character (who even though is not as developed as the main characters,has also has his own personality) who has never interacted with and the only reason so far is "because is cute". Shipping these two without compromising their characters is difficult(and most Fluttermac I have seen here makes Flutter OOC enough,like OP's pic). "Ah but they are both shy" they say,well, that doesn't change that one is stull making assumptions about two characters that have never talked with each other. What if Mac still doesn't consider Fluttershy "his type"What if Fluttershy is not really interested in romantic relationships or is way ot afraid to start one? |

You have a valid point,but you see,you're taking a bit more seriously.Most people ship simply because it's fun.I suppose FlutterMac it's not an exception. The real problem comes when fans of a certain ship (especially ships with no basis whatsoever like FlutterMac) forget what is Canon and what is not and begin to take it very personally when nothing comes their way.There was a lot of butthurt from them with the Whole Hearts and Hovves days and I still don't get why.Because according to canon,Fluttermac doesn't even exist. In my humble opinion,it's the people who ship that(mostly) makes a ship. |
